Q1) One strategy you will use to gather information on your students to know them and their family (interest inventory, home visit)
I would use home visits since I believe this is the most effective strategy that would increase my understanding of the students and their family environments. This strategy would ensure that I become an active participant in unearthing information concerning the students and their families.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Include the benefit of the strategy and use a specific example of how you plan to implement it in your classroom
The main benefit is that I would play an active as opposed to a passive role in understanding students and their families. This would motivate children and parents to participate and give truthful information. For example, I would visit the family of a student who is not performing well in school and seek to understand the environmental factors in the home and school environment that lead to poor performance. I would then educate the students and parents on the changes that need to be made to improve performance.
Q2) Reflect on the reading "strategies for teachers to develop positive relationships with students." Discuss two approaches you will use to build trust with each of your students
One strategy I would involve incorporating humor while teaching. This involves using scenarios that are funny to instigate laughter among the students (Meador, 2019). The jokes that I would tell would be age-specific and be related to the study topic. I would use humorous situations and ensure that students respond positively to such jokes. I believe that this strategy would make the lesson more enjoyable for the students. Another strategy would involve incorporating stories in the lessons to enhance student's understanding. I would use appropriate stories that would enable students to make real-life connections with the concepts we are learning. Storytelling would relieve the monotonous classroom environment and increase student attention.
Q3) Reflect on the reading "principles of effective family engagement." Discuss two approaches you will use to build trust with families and why you believe these approaches will be effective
One strategy would involve engaging students and their families in two-way communication strategies. This approach is based on the need to initiate conversations in the school and family environments (NAEYC, nd). These conversations will seek to understand the child's educational experience. Communication would take various forms and reflect the language preferences in each family. This strategy would be effective since it would enhance collaboration among teachers, parents, and students.
Another strategy would be engaging families in reciprocal relationships. This would involve inviting families to share their knowledge and skills and encourage their participation in family and school life (NAEYC, nd). This strategy would be effective since it would ensure that teachers gather information students, families and community members. This information would then be used to tailor the development of the curriculum.
