Reason for Choosing this Experience
The experiment allowed us to witness racial profiling and prejudice against minorities at Walmart. Racial profiling and prejudice are prevalent across the United States. While at Walmart, one of the workers stopped working when an African American male and a Mexican female looked at expensive TVs. However, when a Caucasian female looked at the same TVs, the worker continued with his assignments. The two minorities were being stereotyped because the worker believed that they would attempt to steal the TVs. The experiment demonstrated the prevalence of discrimination and stereotyping against minorities within the U.S. Racial profiling has impacted relations between races and affects the quality of life for minorities.
Assumptions Before the Experiment
Before conducting the study, we expected the minorities to be racially profiled. The United States has a long culture of racial discrimination and racial profiling. Racial profiling may be defined as using ethnicity, race, religious experiences, and natural origin to determine whether an individual is suspicious. Before we started the experiment, we expected the African American male and a Mexican female to be suspected because of the stereotypes of African-American and Hispanic communities. We believed that the two participants would be subjected to intense supervision. On the other hand, we expected that the Caucasian female would not be suspected of any possible crime.

Lived-Experience Physical Contact Hypothesis
The experience of racial profiling affected the emotional, mental, and psychological health of the participants. The participants were victims of racial profiling on the 17th of February, 2020, when they went window shopping at Walmart. When the African American male and a Mexican female realized that the Walmart worker monitored their movement, they felt degraded and dehumanized. They felt that they were being singled out because of their ethnicity. They had not done anything to deserve this suspicion. The Walmart employee suspected that they were up to dubious activities because of the race. Once they observed that the worker did not bother with the Caucasian female, they got angry for being discriminated against. The African American male and a Mexican female said they felt unwelcomed at the store.
