Playing is essential in the development of any individual as it helps to release mental pressure which if allowed to accumulate can have devastating adverse effects. As such, it is essential for one to engage in meaningful play to create space for new learning experiences. The proposition is especially applicable to young children who are in their formative educational years. According to Kashin (2015), children usually prosper in programs which center on active learning through play, exploration, and inquiry. The game should, however, be in line with the curriculum to facilitate the learning process for better academic outcomes.
The play of choice for this assignment is a jigsaw puzzle which is a kind of object play since the player uses a tangible object. In this game am supposed to place the pieces correspondingly to create a giraffe, and as such so much precision and planning are required of me. The reason for choosing this kind of play is the fact that it is challenging enough and allows the player to come up with options to ensure that every move made contributes to the completion of this game (White, n.d). The reason why the game is exciting and enjoyable is the fact that one keeps on failing but once a person succeeds it brings so much satisfaction that one wants to win all over again. Consequently, this game uses one to have mixed emotions ranging from frustrations to achievement once one completes the set and comes up with a complete giraffe.

The adoption of this type of play is ideal for learners as it opens the learner's mind into more profound concepts of learning, which are about focusing, planning and learning from mistakes as exhibited in this game. I have gained a lot from this game especially on not giving up in spite of the challenging nature of this play. The fact that one triumph at the end of the struggle means that learners can still make out a concept in spite of its perceived difficulty. As such, I have learned not to give up an idea which I will apply in various areas of my daily life for many days to come.
