In this assignment, am going to discuss the challenges faced by my younger brother, he suffered while young as while being raised in an abusive care giving environment. His encounter started when he was knocked by a pole on his forehead as my parents were fighting over our maintainer's cash. The situation resulted in a head injury leading to a comer for six months in the hospital. The doctors then were also of the view that due to his injury he had a psychological disorder. This was an unfortunate moment; my brother was so traumatized that he couldn’t do anything for himself.
The psychological vulnerability caused a lot of effects on him. He even developed a bipolar disorder and could not do anything for himself as well as affected his speech. Such effects affected his life and normal body functions which were had to apprehend. His nervous system was severely affected due to sensory failures. The disorder was not from birth, but it was acquired when he was four years. Sometimes when he became depressed his mood swings changed from time to time. These affected the family socially as money was highly moderated to cater to his needs and support. My mother had to drop their work to take care of him because it was dangerous for him to be left alone, and so he required more attention. This incident affected my brother academically and lowered his self-esteem in everything he undertook. And so it was traumatizing him thoroughly of which he could not get out of it. The school fee that was being responsible for had an end that the money for school fees was directed to the care of my brother.
The environmental stressors had a tremendous negative impact on him. He did not like loud sounds as it irritated him at the maximum. Also, over-illumination of lights was another factor that affected him very much. Times these effects were triggering his stress response thus leading to physical reaction inside the body. That processes that caused stimulation of the hypothalamus that could lead flight and fight responses. These resulted in his difficulty in answer to everything and everyone. The situation was super emotional. These environmental stressors effects are very hard to accommodate when having the problem with this kind of diseases.
In conclusion, the disorder persisted, and it drawled us much behind. The medical assistance was given to the brother. He was taken to the psychology for psychological maintenances and was subjected to medications. Although we were told it was a permanent disease, also it could be maintained by the care and check. At least this actions and steps we took helped in the realization of good care after an extended period. This was a turning point as we realized that this disease was permanent. In conclusion, the whole family went through a traumatizing experience. It was as well so heartbreaking and emotional touching. It almost affected the rest of the family emotionally. The lesson will, therefore, help us in identifying essential lessons in that we have learned from the previous classes.
