Aggression can be defined as the readiness to attack following a hostile behavior. Violence on the other hand is a behavior involving use of physical force in an attempt to hurt and cause destruction. These two result from human beings’ reactions towards certain actions which may not be pleasant to them. The media has contributed to the increased aggression and violence in the society because they air certain programs that stimulate these actions (Olson, 2004). This paper reviews Television programs and shows that have exhibited high levels of violence and aggression. It also looks into the facts that contributed to the actions and the influence of the same on the society including desensitization.

Stalker (CBS) TV show has a lot of violent acts. There is a scene that occurs within the first five minutes of the show in which a woman is burned in her car. A man appears wearing a mask and takes the woman’s keys. Oblivious of her missing keys, she runs into the car to speed away from the impending attack but realizes that the masked man has her car keys. The man then douses the car with gasoline and burns down the woman. There is another scene in which the same man stalks another woman and is about to light the match to burn her when the police intervene and shoot him. A third woman is also stalked in the same TV show. The stalker shows the predicaments that women undergo at the hands of the males. In the show, all the acts of stalking are against women and are perpetrated by men in all the instances. The Canadian show indicates how women how women have not yet been accorded the respect they deserve in the society. Women are regarded as a weaker sex by the society and fall victims of all sorts of mistreatments at the hands of men. That is why they are continually stalked in the show. This show has the ability to desensitize the society on women-directed violence hence heightening their occurrence ( Gianvito & John, 2006).

There is yet another show on Bullet in the Face (IFC) which features a lot of shooting ( Lowry & Brian, 2012) . The show features Max Williams who shoots at people aimlessly and hurdles insults. William, acting as a Gunter Volger is depicted as a muscle for Heinrich who is a crime lord who fights anther crime family headed by Eric Roberts. Heinrich discovers infidelity upon her wife and orders her killed. There is a conflict of interest because it is Heinrich’s muscle. The wife manages to shoot Tannhauster in the face. Another scene in the show brings about scenes of beheadings in which people are beheaded by a people who only rejoice at this without any sign of remorse. In the very same show, priest commits suicide and Gunter is ordered to investigate after being recruited as a police officer. They find out that the gangsters who have been committing crimes and hiding in the churches. There is an instance where a school boy shoots a number of people and Volger is happy about it. He encourages the boy about the evil. This shooting depicts an aggression that is later found out that there is a new drug in the school that led the school boy into such a rampage. A few events follow and Volger is shot again in the face, another case of violence.

This TV show presents a lot of events that result from aggression and lead to nothing but violence. There is a lot of bloodshed that results from the events of the show. Most of these people are men and women are just but a few. The show presents members of the society who rejoice at evil and cannot even stand to rebuke it. This is likely to cause a desensitization effect on the members of the society and such evil as taking away a person’s life become normal things. The Volger is shot twice and the second one even makes him madder. The extent of shooting is also severe. He is shot right in the face! This is quite ruthless on the part of the shooter. This show is likely to lead the society into committing such crimes without the fear of being imprisoned because those who kill in this movie are not brought to book. Still, men are depicted as the perpetrators of most evils.

Justified TV show also has a lot of cases of violence and aggression. This is seen in the shootings that are common in the show. Ava Crowder shoots her husband in season one of the shows. She is however being protected by a member of her family, Raylan. She is however being sought by Boyd who is shot in the chest by Raylan but survives the bullet and is later taken to prison. There are also numerous cases of gunshots in the show which depict the extent of aggression from a group alias “Reformed Criminals”. The Benett family also shoots people to protect their marijuana business. There are two criminal groups in the show who are fighting for supremacy which is characterized with a lot of shootings. There are also cases of robbery with violence in this show. This show is generally about a mission to punish evil and cherish good deeds. There is a lot of gunplay and death by gunfire in the show. There is a mountain matriarch in the show who kills a man using poisoned moonshine this indicates violence. Other scenes of violence are where a contract killer slays four strangers and he is later killed by Raylan. People are also killed using a pair of scissors in the show in a rather disturbing death.

The mission in this show is a nice one except that it results into violence. It shows the society that problems cannot be solved without gunfire. This is indeed a very bad teaching because violence cannot solve any problem in the society but only intensifies issues. It leads to acrimony between members of the society.

The American Horror Story presents an epic episode Cult . This unedited version of the episode presents a scene in which there is mass shooting of individuals. The episode show a rally in which a shooter storms in to target Kai alongside other attendees. This episode shows a lot of scenes indicating explicit violence. It is no wonder that the producers decided to edit the show after a Las Vegas attack. The show would have led viewers to experience a lot of traumatic memories that would have been detrimental to their health. Mass shootings are likely to increase the occurrence of violence in the society and suicide bombing.

American Horror Story is a show which gives a picture of how people are murdered. Each episode shows a more complex way of killing people. This is quite antisocial as it shows that the society marvels at the death of other individuals. Instead of engaging in constructive research, all people do is research on destructive ideas. Some of these ideas are so negative that they can wipe out very large masses of people at a time. This show was done to show an element of political horror. It dwells around political authorities and how they use the power vested upon them. The show features Kai and a male opponent. The former is telling the opponent not to interrupt her. Beverly shoots the male after he satirically tells Kai not to underestimate a woman. The shooting in itself a sign of dissatisfaction as the political mood intensifies in the country ( Kaye & Bryce, 2012).

In summary, the media has a role to play as far as moral upholding is concerned. The media has a large number of followers and this audience depends on them for their character shape up. The large audiences usually try to copy whatever they watch in the movies and therefore moral decadence can be blamed on the media in the society. As far as violence and aggression is concerned, TV shows have stemmed up these two negative aspects. Some of the shows air a lot of nasty scenes involving violence. This goes a long way to desensitize the society. They will no longer value life when they see the killings in the TVs. These occurrences become normal to them such that they are not moved when they incur.
