Mistakes are part of life, and everyone makes them, but the only alteration is the magnitude of the consequences of our slip-ups. According to Makary & Daniel (2016), over 400 thousand patients perish in our hospitals annually because of medical errors; however, the same hospitals save millions of lives every week. Why do humans overlook all good deeds immediately someone makes a trivial mistake?

It is true that the nurse's error that ensued in December 2017 turned to be disastrous. The patient was panicky about receiving a full body scan, and the doctor recommended anti-anxiety regular medication known as Versed. There was a terrible mistake which led the nurse to inject the patient with Vecuronium. By lousy luck, the nurse`s error turned a typical dose in some instances a deadly one in this particular instance. The nurse's mistake was an unnecessary tragedy, nonetheless, what happens in the next couple of years depends highly on how we handle this situation (Makary & Daniel, 2016) .

Mistakes have the power to turn someone and the people around into something better with time. I firmly believe that criminally prosecuting the nurse does more harm than good. The primary objective should not be scaring healthcare providers but preventing future medical errors ( Plews et al., 2016) . It can be done by openly discussing these errors and using the victims as a constant reminder. Reinstating the nurse will help minimize and avoid such mistakes because others will learn from her mistake and be extra vigilant. The nurse will also improve in performance, be extra careful and end up doing better in nursing. It might not seem right, but it is better than faking perfections since errors are portals of discovering new things (Makary & Daniel, 2016) .
