The Hays Code was intended to ensure that the motion pictures at the time would be based on storylines and illustrations that did not signal misguiding or amoral depiction to the viewers. The Hays Code would ensure that the movies produced would not reduce the moral standards, ensure they influence the lives of people positively and ensuring an emphasis on respecting humans, laws and nature. The guidelines were important at the time when films such as the She Done Him Wrong tried to be too sexual innuendoes to the point that they would be unsuitable for children or people who are against nudity.

The implementation of the code resulted in changing the dynamics of film production. The producers would only produce movies that were uncontentious and influenced morality. It was a period that saw Hollywood and other major producers narrow their subject matter and creativity. By analyzing the 1930s and thirty years after the implementation of the Hays Code it is clear that theatrical motions were produced to target all audience, that is the movie had to be suitable for both children and adults. The narrow and simplicity required was challenging for movie producers to use historical legacies and other violence related events such as the Civil War for entertainment and education system. The stereotyping of different races that makes modern films exciting was forbidden, thus explaining the defiance demonstrated towards changing the constraining regulation. The film had to ensure that it did not use political controversies that would be deemed offensive to some people.

Contingency theories, murder, crime, and blackmails would be unacceptable under the code. It result in question how the producers would be able to excite the audience. The restriction were too much for the producers to either entertain and play a role in enhancing morality just because the excitement would be generated from using amoral issues such as corruption or crime to demonstrate the transformation. The thrilling films and series such as Django and Berlin Station respectively are based on racial segregation and corruption which would raise mockery to some audience and are unfit for children would have to be censored or audited to fit the code’s requirement. This acts would deprive the audience the buzz and pleasure that the polarizing factors create.

The entertainment industry since then has grown tremendously with the Hays Code having played a key role in forming the foundation of regulating the contents of the films. However, the code limited many progress of the sector and was a disdain to both education purpose of film production and the delight of movies’ entertainment purposes.
