Education is responsible for developing a country's economy and society; therefore, education is the milestone of a country's development. Education is responsible for providing skills and knowledge to the population, as well as the shaping of personalities for the youth of a nation (Kruss et al., 2015) . Past and modern societies use education as a means of changing the conduct of human beings in life. Thus, learning is used to develop an individual by preparing them to adopt the best approach to circumstances at any given time. Education is defined as "the adjusted ability to changing situations and the environment (Kruss et al., 2015) ." To human beings and world democracies, education is more than just an economic investment. It is the cornerstone upon which life, development, and the survival of human beings depend. Irrespective of how people view their needs and problems, education is used to provide opportunities for all individuals to develop fully (Ramaley, 2013) . The purpose of this paper is to elucidate the importance of education as a holistic approach, be it for social, economic, personal, or cultural development as it impacts every aspect of life.

The human capital theory asserts that the attainment of education is a vital element to economic growth. Education is an enabler in the development of cognitive abilities and analytical skills (Ramaley, 2013) . Training teaches people, both children, and adults on the importance of analyzing information and how to utilize the acquired knowledge (Kruss et al., 2015) . The human capital theory is complemented with the signaling theory, which asserts that the level of an individual's education is an attestation of the behavioral qualities that employers are looking for. Therefore, the cognitive and analytical skills acquired through schooling helps employers increase their productivity (Thomson, 2018) . Firstly, the attainment of education increases the agility and resilience of an employee due to increased knowledge and understanding of the task at hand (Kruss et al., 2015) . Thus, this is an enabler in the making of better decisions. Secondly, the knowledge acquired can be used to create and innovate new products and services that will improve the production of materials and the dissemination of information (Ramaley, 2013) . Human capital, as an investment, will enable organizations to reduce their cost of production and increase their competitive advantage.

Education paves the way for individuals to have a good career. According to Thomson (2018), people that improve their capabilities through education will experience a positive income effect. There will be no change in the income levels of individuals who do not invest in education as the increase in wages requires education (Thomson, 2018) . A highly-educated labor force will employment opportunities hence receive higher wages because of their skills than if they had not invested in education (Thomson, 2018) . Therefore, education enhances the employment opportunities of an individual. Moreover, education reinforces an individual's thoughts, polishes their minds, and strengthens their character and behavior towards other people in society (Kruss et al., 2015) . Education equips people with information from various fields that help people specialize in their careers. Without education, it becomes impossible to cope in life or have a decent profession.

Education endows people a functional status in society. Often than not, educated individuals are considered a valuable source of wealth and knowledge in society (Kruss et al., 2015) . Socioeconomic well-being encompasses not only income but also the attainment of education and financial security. The socioeconomic status of an individual includes the quality of life and other attributes such as the privileges and opportunities afforded to well-educated people in society (Kruss et al., 2015) . The socioeconomic status of people in the society affects both their physical and mental health. Low socioeconomic status correlates to low educational achievement, poverty, and poor health, which affects the growth and functioning of society. Therefore, poor education results in the low socioeconomic status of individuals in society, which leads to inequities in health and resource distribution.

Under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, education is a fundamental right for all. Across world democracies, there are disparities in the provision of education, especially for people with disabilities and low income (Kruss et al., 2015) . Educational opportunities can reduce inequalities and help promote inclusion in society. Proving equal education opportunities provides learners with the additional support that they need to improve on their skills and competencies so that they can positively contribute to the growth and development of society. Education is vital for achieving growth in a knowledge-based society (O'Shea, 2018) . Without equal education opportunities, individuals are barred from acquiring the knowledge and skills that they require to tackle situations in their daily lives (Ramaley, 2013) . Advocating and increasing educational opportunities is a force multiplier in promoting the socioeconomic development of a country. If people across world nations can be made literate, they will be self-reliant, thus positively impacting society and the country.

Education helps build self-confidence. It is well known that highly-confident people are successful in both their work and personal lives. Therefore, confidence is the launchpad for every successful skill and habit that human beings possess. People acquire confidence from interacting with others throughout life (O'Shea, 2018) . Besides, families and friends, schools are the biggest cultivators of confidence. In the field of communication, educational institutions emphasize the 4 C's of learning, which include critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication. Schools play a vital role in the development of future leaders, and besides the 4 C's, learners must possess CONFIDENCE to attain their full potential (Joshi, 2017) . Without confidence, students will be unable to take up risks, speak their minds, or collaborate with their colleagues. Students will be afraid of conveying ideas or thoughts that might fail (Ramaley, 2013) . Hence, education creates an environment for building confidence in children as well as an environment where taking risks is encouraged and where they can find value in tackling obstacles and struggles (Joshi, 2017) . Education builds confidence in people that makes them prepared to tackle change and challenges that life throws at them.

Education is vital for character building as it helps people grow as individuals. Education opens people's minds to opportunities that they have not been exposed to before. Education builds decision-making skills, social skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills that are required to tackle challenges and seize opportunities. Through different courses on personal development, life planning, proper management, and financial techniques, education provides a stepping stone into the real world (O'Shea, 2018) . Education advocates for active learning and is responsible for the continuous improvement of the social, economic, political, and moral well-being of individuals. Education is an investment in individual well-being and self-responsibility, and it is a product that promises significant value to society (Joshi, 2017) . The provision of quality education in society inspires innovation and creativity, thus improving the nation's economy.

Education plays a prominent role in the life of human beings, and thus, people cannot enjoy life without education. Education is also vital in the development of social cohesion and economic growth. Living and working in a world full of innovation and technological advancements requires different knowledge, skills, and attitudes of people. Successful world economies compete based on not only low cost but high values as well. High value can only be attained through a flexible, well-trained, and educated personnel. Therefore, education is responsible for clearing off the darkness of ignorance and a practical tool of change in a positive direction. If people are educated, they will overcome the shadows of ignorance and develop the nation. Thus, a country cannot attain development unless it advocates for the education of its people.
