There are special populations of people in the society that require the care and support of families, churches and the general community for them to survive, thrive and live to achieve their potential. Such populations include; orphans, homeless families, victims of domestic violence and the elderly among others. The church has been instrumental in ensuring that the special groups are taken care of through providing resources for the needy such as counseling and financial resources. The Bible stipulates that it is the role of the family, the church and the community to take care of the needy in the society. It is the social responsibility of these groups to ensure that the most in are taken care of, and they lead a quality life given their condition.
The family is the first social system expected to provide support to the needy in the society. The family plays a crucial role in introducing stability to children and ensuring a normal functioning unit called a family. A family in the case of children helps them go through the day to day life with minimal challenges more so also a family helps them handle an unforeseen crisis. It is a family that provides children with their first channel of support and a means through which they are taught about the roles and responsibilities of different genders in society. Families help ground children and help them with changes in life. It is through families that needy groups will learn their role in the society, for instance, it is through families that children learn about their roles such as son/ daughter, nephew or grandchild among others.

The family plays an important role when it comes taking care of the needy in society through the provision of resources to the needy. The resources come in the form of financial support to institutions that support the needy in the community. Families also provide counseling and other supplies. Families also nurture children in the situation of adopted children and ensure that they get life skills to ensure their development. Families also try to maintain and manage the family system (Peterson, 2009).
The church also has a role to play in taking care of the needy in the society. Scriptures from the Bible give examples of how Jesus took care of the needy, for instance, the story he tells his disciples about the rich man and Lazarus in the book of Luke. It is the duty of the church to give charity to the believers, especially to those in the church as indicated in the book of Acts. The church also must care for its own members and provide for them. Care and provision of the members of the church are mentioned in the bible in the book of Timothy (Graham, n.d.).
The community is another unit that offers support to the needy in society. Then the community encompasses the smallest social unit which is the family and all the social institutions such as the church among others. Whether the other units are functioning it is the duty of the community to ensure that all the community members, especially the vulnerable are taken care of and live too comfortably. It is important that all the units in society are aware of the special groups and their needs so that they can offer help when needed and ensure that all members of the community lead a life of purpose and achieve their potential. It is important that systems are put in place to ensure that all the vulnerable people in the community have access to basic services when they need them courtesy of the community.
