Internet Risks for The children

Content Risks

School going children may come across some provocative material on the internet that may not be so comfortable with them. Such material includes pornography or images showing cruelty to animals and videos of extreme violence. The effect of such content is usually tragic as some children take the content personally and become traumatized (Duerager, 2012). Material such as pornographic films and images are addictive and may lead to loss of concentration in other key activities such as school studies, friendship and family time. Such content destroys the moral fibre of the child as they become exposed to adult content that may be difficult for them to digest or consume with ease (Livingstone, 2011). Such expositions lead to an upset in the child causing major damage to their growing and the manner in which they view things and people rather.

Contact risks

These dangers incorporate kids coming into contact with individuals they don't know or with grown-ups acting like youngsters on the web. For instance, a tyke may be convinced to meet somebody he doesn't have an ink, share individual data with outsiders, or give contact points of interest subsequent to tapping on fly up messages (Duerager, 2012). One key thing that most school aged children stand to face in light of contact is the cyber bullying. Recently there have been significant cases of cyber bullying that have gone to the extremes of children committing suicides.

Suicide is just one of the extreme or rather the ultimate effect of wrong cyber content over the internet. School aged children are not yet emotionally stable and mature to be able to take and consume various kinds of content over the internet (Holloway, 2013). Therefore, when faced with the wrong or rather demeaning messages and provocations from others, they tend to feel insecure and highly discouraged leading to an emotional destruction. Some people hide their identities and continue to provoke these children causing a deprived freedom and happy life during their growth. According to the Centres for Disease and Prevention (CDC), such aspects of the internet ensure that children fail to fully grow up and have problems with their social lives which may prevail up to their adulthood (Duerager, 2012). Therefore, parents must be vigilant to ensure that their children remain safe over the internet in order to develop properly as children.

Conduct Risks

Conduct risks entail a variation in the way children act which may tend to cause harm and hurt to others. Children that are victims of these acts tend to be slow in progression as they suffer intensely in term of emotions. For instance, a child may destroy a game created by their siblings or friends. Such cause tension and anger among children that is not healthy for children of such kind of ages (Duerager, 2012). Other conduct risks include making of inn-app purchases by accident. It is crucial that parents avoid such things from happening because they are extremely damaging to the children. In the event that the children have purchased apps or other items over the internet, it becomes a problem to even the parent because they are forced to pay for items they may not afford or need (Holloway, 2013).

Parents must remain uptight in protecting their children from all these risks that exit over the internet. It is imperative that parents stay close with their children to avoid their ruin over the internet by watching for various symptoms (Duerager, 2012). Children that are having problems with the internet spend too much time and usually at the same times every day on the internet. Other symptoms include immediate changes in attitudes and preference to remain isolated and distant from others (Livingstone, 2011).

Internet risks are significant especially among the school aged children and as such parents must ensure to protect the children from such. It is imperative to ensure that children stay safe on the internet by consistently checking what they do and supervising the amount of time they spend on the internet. It is also important that parents notice changes in moods and attitudes and begin addressing them prior to having blocked some sites from being accessed.
