The video mainly focuses on the industrial economy that that came up in the United States after the end of the Civil War. The video appreciates that the most important part of the US history is the post-Reconstruction period where industrialism was expanded in America. The new industrialism period in the US was as a result of the various changes that were experienced in the field of technology. It is also imperative to note that the end of the Civil War saw the rise of Captains of the industry that included people like Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt, JP Morgan, and John D. Rockefeller among other individuals. 

The government also had an immense influence on the development of industrialism in the country. The government had a huge influence on aspects such as trusts and combinations that were the backbone of the economy during the post-Civil War period. The video further illuminates on the various benefits of the Civil War to the economy of the country. Some of the benefits included improving finances by introducing the national currency and also improve industrialization by giving the market to the arms and clothing manufacturers. It further improved communications by capitalizing on the use of telegram and also improved transport by improving railway access.

It is imperative to note that the US was initially an agrarian economy before it evolved to become an industrial economy. The American Constitution is also credited for having played a significant role in the development of the country's economy. It interpreted the law in a way that promoted innovation. The video also illuminates on the various challenges the workers faced in the industries that included meager pay, lack of pension, and different types of injuries on the jobs. The influx of immigrants meant that many job opportunities reduced for the natives. Therefore, this led to the rise of workers unions such as the Knights of Labor.
