Internet continues to define the key feature of technology and its development. The power of internet is manifested in various issues which include socialization and among other critical aspects of social nature of man. For instance, various initiatives and social sites continue to bring people of synonymous agenda together. Various professional like doctors, lawyers and even engineers congregate in their various social sites to champion and discuss issues that affect their operations. Crowdsourcing which primarily relates to obtaining information on a particular issue through the use of services of multidisciplinary teams of professional continue to take shape in various issue of social and economic interest. It is on the above prepositions that this paper endeavors to discuss how the internet has influenced the power and pitfalls of crowdsourcing.

The availability of internet aided devices like smart phones and search engines like Google, yahoo and Ask.com among other examples inform the foundation of crowdsourcing. Similarly, various websites like Wikipedia, Investopedia, Wiki Answers and Spark Notes continue to inform various Crowdsourcing mechanisms in which professional writers paid and volunteers write on such sites on various information. For instance, health professional like doctors have special sites like Mayo Clinic in which they highlight various causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment of various conditions and ailments. Alternatively, there is collaboration between engineers and doctors scientists that articulate information related on various concepts of their profession (Powers, Martine. (No Date).

The congregation of online users brings in massive and vibrant talent and aids in getting answers to issues that could have otherwise been impossible by one person. The vibrancy of internet perfectly aids crowdsourcing regarding speed with which information from one end on articulated issues reaches the other. It also helps in providing perfect means for sharing problems and issues. Various pieces of information on websites and other crowdsourcing agents allay fears that people may have regarding various conditions. Additionally, it provides victims of a particular problem platform for sharing their experiences with other people. For instance, patients of various chronic illnesses share on treatment and general means of coping up with the condition. However, other than health issues crowdsourcing is also vital in economic emancipation. Powered by internet, seller and buyers get their clients and products respectively online. Despite the significant role and influence of internet on Crowdsourcing, there are pitfalls that cannot be bypassed in the crowdsourcing discourse. For instance, most information on websites and internets are not censored even if they are erroneous and misleading due to the nature of crowdsourcing. The various ads running on different websites may carry with them exaggerated accounts of issues which may be detrimental especially if they directly relates with their target users. For instance, unscrupulous doctor may mislead certain patients of a particular disease on the treatment of the same. Similarly, unqualified service provider may also impersonate as qualified and write misleading accounts on issues online (Castella, 2010).

In summary, crowdsourcing remains news media for the contemporary generation due to eminent advantages that are attributed to it. For instance, the massive talent and ideas generated from the many online users on various issues can only be attributed to crowdsourcing. Internet powered devices and sites continue to aid connectivity for many people globally sharing challenges with others. However, a few pitfalls persist with the use of crowdsourcing associated with internet. The uncensored nature of information online makes them potentially harmful to their recipients as espoused in the document.
