Obviously, special populations within the U.S. society are usually classified as disadvantaged groups. One has to understand that each person is likely to be influenced by society’s deeply-rooted stereotypes as well as beliefs in a different way; hence, it is important to draw special attention to numerous challenges that, for instance, elderly people often pass through due to inappropriately designed policy making within the society. In addition, one should also take into account the fact that women emerge to be among those who are most likely to be confronted with a vast amount of challenges throughout their life.

Apparently, the issue of generational poverty occurs as extremely complex multi-dimensional problem badly affecting certain categories of people. One cannot but encounter the fact that many researchers consider business cycle contraction, the shortage of resources, and insufficient education as predominantly the basic reasons why disadvantaged groups exist in the United States. It is worth saying that generational poverty incorporates categories of poor people; one has to be conscious that generational poverty consists in hardships that special populations face more than one generation. Surely, there are profoundly complex factors negatively contributing to their chances of taking an advantage of 21 st century technological advances and social organization. Apparently, those people who are constantly involved in experiencing the hardships are forced to rely on exceptionally themselves; in addition, it becomes clear that they usually tend to be obsessed with their survival and can only contemplate upon the current problems. A peculiar thing is that disadvantaged categories of people are deprived of an opportunity to go beyond the limits of present time due to the fact that a harsh reality they are engaged with prevents them from a willingness to make plans for the future.

Significantly, any situation that disadvantaged people are exposed to is tightly bound to reactive mentality. As a result, such an approach to grasping the concept of everyday’s trials is likely to result in a lack of social organization as well as projecting their life objectives. Evidently, one should vividly see all the complex factors involved in overcoming generational poverty. The focus here lies in arguing that people living in this type of poverty are most likely not able to escape their situations due to being not equipped with all the necessary tools. To be precise, this special population focuses on material values, since people who are living in extreme generational poverty are often disappointed in their lack of material security. Therefore, it becomes apparent that overcoming generational poverty is much related to a fundamental reinterpretation of preferred values; what it means is that one should really work hard in order to eradicate the signs of material dependence and become willing to expand the insight on the unprecedented novelty of spiritual life, respectively.

Apart from the above said, it is important to admit that many people cannot overcome generational poverty because of the lack of a solid education; to make everything clear, one has to know that disregarding the significance of a good education will only lead to negative outcomes from the perspective of noncompeting awareness that those living in generational poverty will stick to. In other words, these people will be unable to do their role within a society as complete human beings; hence, some hidden anger is likely to be a dominating model that the aforementioned population will consider as an integral part of their coexistence with common law traditions. Surely, parents of poverty do not pay enough attention to that getting a good education occurs as a key factor contributing to their children’s chances to overcome generational poverty; considering the reason why they are reluctant to endow children with an opportunity to benefit from a high standard of national education, one has to know that, in their view, education can persuade young individuals to leave home in search of a better lot. All in all, in order to overcome generational poverty, it is important to focus on deepening knowledge in various fields due to the fact that such a strategy will enable people to conceive of central values in life in a different way.

Indisputably, a solid education can increase the chances of overcoming generational poverty, since people’s inability to uncover everyday’s uncertainties negatively influences the way they find out about the surrounding world. Moreover, one should definitely be highly qualified in at least some core academic subjects so as to obtain a decent job and not increase the unemployment rate, respectively. On the whole, it becomes absolutely clear that investing in good education yields serious development benefits; consequently, overcoming generational poverty by directing poor students to be involved in education actually makes sense, since it occurs as the most optimal escape route from hardships (Gans, 1995). To sum up, one has to be conscious that people who live in generational poverty should take a raft of measures, which would transform their children’s attitude towards society’s norms; and investing in a mind reframing shift through education should not be underestimated from the perspective of positive effect on those who always used to marginalize themselves.

Inevitably, the elderly comprise an increasing proportion of international population. A particular attention should be drawn to the fact that this very population obviously makes numerous significant contributions to the U.S. society. One has to take into consideration the thing that the increased longevity offers some new opportunities for the technological advances within the social organization; apparently, “… older adults are becoming an increasingly important labour source.” (Eyster., Johnson., Toder, 2008, p. 30) In any way, at the same time, it is important to know that bureaucratic-dominated policy making often prevents the aged to play a substantial role and live with dignity. Despite the fact that older adults are likely to serve extremely important resources to the society, it becomes apparent that they suffer from a low self-esteem, which puts them at increased risk to self-marginalization. To make it certain, one has to be become aware that older adults are forced to pass through various challenges, incorporating such as, for instance, societal devaluation and hardships due to being mostly disregarded as highly qualified specialists by the prevailing majority of present-day employers. It is important to indicate that 21 st century financial market fluctuations are likely to lead to material insecurity, since the dimension of employment experience counts for nothing today. Consequently, older adults appear to be confronted with a harsh reality, which consists in that market-centric policies count on young professional community; such a situation is especially obvious in the Third World countries.

In any way, a vast amount of U.S. enterprises follow pretty much the same policy, which negatively impacts the equality in the workplace. Significantly, the aged are forced to collide with a variety of challenges due to the authorities’ unwillingness to settle on a solution to the problem of social devaluation. It is important to admit that older adults who are constantly involved in coming up with the strategy of how to make the ends meet frequently encounter insufficient access to social services; furthermore, one has to highlight the fact that social services are often of poor quality.

On the whole, it appears to be absolutely certain that the increased longevity requires another approach to meeting the needs of older adults; to be precise, the authorities have to eradicate promotion barriers as well as the rules of retirement that contradict the competencies and demands of the elderly. Of course, small and medium-sized businesses have to enable older adults to prove their proficiency by utilizing their enormous experience throughout life. To put it another way, equal employment opportunities should not be neglected, since people of all ages have to be equal in employment rights.

Contemplating upon the challenges that women face today at different life stages, one has to know that despite some positive shifts in the elimination of discriminatory policies, there is still much to be done in this way. Obviously, women pass through the trial of discerning messages they usually get through society’s beliefs. A peculiar thing is that these messages often incorporate the signs of imposing the standards for the manner in which this category of people is expected to do the role as human beings. Among the challenges that American women still face today, it is worth making an emphasis on some of the most straightforward ones.

First of all, one has to understand that women continue to earn less than men on average. Although the Equal Pay Act aimed to uproot wage discrimination, women are still not likely to get paid as much as the opposite sex. Secondly, it becomes clear that women are not proportionately represented on television as well as the other types of mass media. Additionally, one has to draw special attention to occupational sex segregation, which lies in that natural sciences are overwhelmed with male community members. In addition, among the challenges, one has to take into account pregnancy discrimination; the thing is that it still occurs as the burning issue in the workplace. Apart from the above-said, one should also make mention of wildly spread sexual violence. To be precise, the number of women who were physically assaulted outnumbers men dramatically. Additionally, women often get unfairly blamed, and, it actually alludes to some prejudiced attitude towards female sex. The last but not the least, it is important to take a notice of menstruation frustration. The focus here lies in claiming that women are likely to continue to menstruate at different life stages; and, consequently, one has to vividly see a negative effect of being patronized for it.

Significantly, it is important to pinpoint that what I learned definitely changed my perspective as well as the way I am intended to approach special populations. The point is that I managed to uncover all the complexity of challenges that the aforementioned categories of people are forced to pass through. In particular, I expanded the insight on the way they live their everyday’s lives. I would like to assert that my awareness of special populations has changed dramatically; some of my previous suggestions on how far the effects of policy making and society’s stereotypes are detrimental to people living in generational poverty have travelled into a new paradigm shift in the understanding of their serious hardships.

In addition, I would like to admit that the excursus into the challenges that the aged face due to being methodically ignored endowed me with an opportunity to reconsider my opinion on this truly global issue. Indisputably, the authorities should take some measures, which would lead to qualitative changes in terms of providing older adults with equal employment opportunities; and the same is about women who should finally be given freedom of choice. The challenges that American women face today are a good example of how difficult being a woman is. Therefore, it is high time to transform the public sentiment, making an emphasis on equal rights for both men and women.
