Part 1: Sustainable Living Guide Contributions
Carrying Capacity
Carrying capacity can be defined as the number of living organisms that can be accommodated within a given environment without having to contribute to environmental degradation. In other words, this can be considered as the capacity within which the environment would be able to handle comfortably.
Soil Fertility
Soil fertility can be considered as the ability for soil within a given environment to support agricultural production of crops. By advancing soil fertility, the world would be in a rather effective position of having to build on food security, which remains as one of the greatest challenges occurring in the world today.

Wastewater Treatment
Wastewater treatment can be defined as the processing of wastewater, which is water that is no longer needed, before it can be released back into the environment. The processing of wastewater helps in averting possible impacts resulting from harmful chemical within the water released into the environment.
Clean Air Act
The Clean Air Act (CAA) refers to a federal law that was enacted with the sole purpose being towards regulating the release of air emissions with the specific focus being on stationary or mobile sources (Popp, 2003). The main expectation in the enactment of the law was to help in reducing air pollution, which remained as a key challenge associated with the challenge being experienced on matters of the environment.
Part 2: Living in a Sustainable World
Introduction
Living in a sustainable world would mean that the relationship between human beings and the environment would be favorable. In other worlds, this would seek to suggest that people would be more aware of the fact that they need to protect and conserve their environment at all times. The people would be able to cope with different ways within which natural phenomena affects their lives by working towards substituting overall expectations with actions to aid in environmental conservation.
Week 1
The world’s biodiversity would accommodate a wide array of plant and animal species, which will be able to co-exist within the same ecosystem without contributing to any possibilities of environmental degradation or destruction (Brooks et al., 2006). In the current world, biodiversity is reducing due to significant destruction of the environment, which will be a thing of the past coming into a sustainable world.
Week 2
Agricultural production would be different, as farmers would reduce their use of chemicals to aid in the food production process, instead, focusing on the use of organic waste, which would not only improve the quality of food by would also minimize impacts to the environment. The continued use of chemicals can be seen as one of the key factors that is affecting the environment today, as most of these chemicals are harmful to other organisms. Additionally, most of these chemicals find their way into open water sources, which affects the marine environment significantly.
Week 3
Regarding management of water resources, people would embrace effective management practices to minimize wastage of water as a way of advancing overall possibility in protecting and conserving the environment. Currently, people do not adopt effective practices, which has resulted in a situation where most of the water is wasted or is not put into good use, which tends to have serious implications. People, in the current world, do not consider water as an important resource, which serves as one of the key reasons why they have not been able to come up with policies to aid in water resource management.
Week 4
To help in maintaining a habitable atmosphere and climate, the world will turn towards renewable sources of energy. Some of the key sources of energy that the world will consider include solar and wind energy, both of which tend to have minimal impacts or effects on the environment. The ultimate expectation is that this will help reduce reliance on non-renewable sources of energy that result in serious impacts on the environment. Most of the countries today rely on burning of fossil fuels to aid in the production of energy, which is considered as a negative approach in promoting sustainability.
Week 5
Waste management will be different considering that people will embrace what can be considered as waste processing approaches to aid in the processing of waste before release into the environment. An example can be seen from wastewater treatment, which would help in promoting effective treatment of the wastewater before it is released into the environment. That would mean that the impacts to the environment would be minimized significantly. In the current world, waste management is not as effective as it may be expected to be, which serves as a key issue contributing to pollution.
In summary, people ought to build on their conscious understanding of what they ought to expect in their approach towards taking up the option of improving sustainability. From a political perspective, it would be essential for leaders to focus much of their attention towards enacting policies that govern the overall process of advancing sustainability. That would mean that the world would be able to move closer towards building on its sustainability.
