Ketogenic diet trend is very significant for weight loss as it majors on decreased carbohydrates and increased healthy fat foods with very minimal protein consumption. It focuses on reducing the glucose stored in the body so as to burn fats. This whole process is done through limitation of the large amount of carbohydrates one takes (Lamm, 2015). It basically burns fats instead of sugar which is significant as it aids in improving the resistance of insulin and managing any chronic conditions symptoms. For instance, there is barely or no consumption of oats, cereals, breads, pastas, or anything that is carbohydrates in this diet trend, which restricts sugar as well. This diet trend consists commonly of fats that are healthy such as, nuts, avocados, olive oil, seed, and fully fat daily among others (Lamm, 2015). It also advocates for the vegetable consumption, especially the non-starchy ones such as, cucumbers, kales, cauliflower, spinach, and more. For the purpose of cleansing, the trend proposes the use of fiber from whole fruits that can be blended to juice. Notably, ketogenic diet trend would aid in weight loss, cleansing, as well as, promoting one’s health. 

There are few restrictions of ketogenic diet trend that could arise and can in some way affect one’s health. There could be decrease in eating appetite as there is minimized craving for carbohydrates. The 2005 published USDA food pyramid what made to aid American to choose food that are healthy. They share something common with the ketogenic diet trend which is their objective of discouraging fatty acids fats consumption and suggesting healthy fats such as olive oil (Lamm, 2015). Agreeably, the USDA food pyramid and ketogenic diet tried focus on the same goal of promoting the health and well-being of individuals.
