Strengths from the Strength Based Leadership (SBL) Assessment

The following are some of the key strengths that were identified by the Strength Based Leadership (SBL) assessment.

Communication – Communication was identified as a key strength considering that it was noted that I had the ability to influence other people through communication. Communication manifests in my work, as it provides me with a front through which to build that positive avenue for interaction and discussion of ideas that are bound to help my company. I tend to believe in the idea of having to use my communication skills in a bid to passing on the ideas that I develop in a bid to defining overall progress in building success.

Developer – The assessment also noted that I was a developer. Bowers & Lopez (2010) argue that developers are key in making general improvements while dealing with minor issues. In my case, the assessment noted that I have a clear conviction towards making small changes while deriving satisfaction in the changes that I make. The strength manifests in my work whenever I encounter any minor issues that affect the general performance, which I seek to fix effectively.

Includer – An includer is an individual, who understands the importance of overall inclusion while accepting others’ strengths and weaknesses (Kaiser & Overfield, 2011). In my case, the results of the assessment indicated that I have the ability and capacity of accepting others within their respective roles. Thus, this paves the way for me to include them in every idea that I develop as part of building a platform for success. The strength manifests in my work based on my ability to include others in my projects regardless of their strengths or weaknesses.

Positivity – Positivity refers to the idea of having to see everything positive regardless of the challenges experienced when engaging in a given action (Lin, Qian, Li, & Chen, 2016). In my assessment, I was considered as always maintaining highest standards of positivity in a bid to increasing the chances of success in everything that I do. The strength manifests in my life based on my ability to always see the positive side of everything regardless of the challenges.

Woo – The assessment also noted that I have the ability to woo or influence others towards ensuring that they are able to develop the challenge of having to win in every situation. My ability to influence plays a critical role towards boosting my overall capacity to deliver on positive outcomes in every situation. The strength manifests in my life based on the inherent capacity to influence others towards building on their success element.

Strengths from Other Sources of Information

Other sources of information revealed several key strengths, which I believe are important to point out in a bid to examining my abilities. The first key strength noted is technical skills through which I am always able to engage in technical activities with high levels of focus as a way of defining overall success. Having technical skills means that I am in a better position through which to build on my progress considering that I tend to believe in my skills when dealing with challenges within my workplace environment. The second strength that was noted revolved around human skills, which reflects on my abilities to connect with others both from a personal and professional perspective.

Mencl, Wefald, & van Ittersum (2016) embody human skills as referring to a combination of social, interpersonal, as well as, leadership skills aimed at expanding one’s abilities as a manager. In the assessment, I scored notable high in these skills, thus, reflecting on the fact that indeed I have the ability to operate as a manager within any given environment. The third strength was conceptual skills considering that I have an overall ability to general new ideas while using creative intuitions. Redmond & Dolan (2016) point out that conceptual skills not only reflect on one’s ability to develop new ideas but also seeks to build on one’s comprehensive understanding of a given context as a way of defining overall performance. The assessments took note of the fact that I tend to have an overall capacity to develop new ideas while reflecting on the generalized levels of understanding that I have with regard to a given context.

Strengths from 360-Degree Feedback

In conducting my 360-Degree feedback, others were able to identify several key strengths, which I believe are important in highlighting my overall abilities. The first key strength that was noted from the feedback is self-regulation. Self-regulation refers to an emotional approach through which one is able to respond to ongoing demands while using a wide range of emotions that are considered as being socially tolerable (EEE). The feedback suggested that although the environment may bring out a wide array of demands, I am able to select the best possible emotion that would not only advance my ability to handle the demand but also reflect on maintain a connection with others. Having self-regulation work towards maintaining success in every aspect including ensuring that I work towards advancing the way I connect with others.

The second key strength noted from my 360-Degree feedback is self awareness. Self-awareness, which is considered as being the keynote in emotional intelligence, reflects on the ability to understand oneself from one period to another (Caldwell & Hayes, 2016). I tend to maintain self-awareness by always trying to remain positive in everything that I do, which gives out an emotion that is favorable in building the connection with others. Remaining positive ensures that the behaviors that I project only seek to build on my capacities towards advancing overall capacity towards achieving set objectives. The last strength noted from my 360-Degree feedback is self-motivation. Self-motivation reflects on one’s ability to improve and maintain commitment towards a given goal or initiative regardless of the challenges that may affect this particular goal (Oostlander, Güntert, Van Schie, & Wehner, 2014). In overall, the feedback indicated that I am always self-motivated meaning that I always believe in the goals that I have set out for myself, which highlights the importance of having to ensure that I am able to deliver on the same.

Strengths Not Revealed

From the assessment and the 360-Degree feedback, I must argue that two main strengths were not revealed, which are important towards defining who I am from a personal and professional perspective. The first key strength not revealed is creativity and innovation. I believe that I am very creative and innovative in the ideas that I develop considering that not only seek to meet a specific goal but always seek to surpass the goals I set for myself. The creativity that I hold has been of great value towards improving my self-motivation focusing on set out goals and objectives.

The second key strength that was noted revealed is the fact that I am always disciplined in everything that I do considering that I tend to believe that the discipline I hold will determine the outcomes I achieve. Self-discipline is important in defining one’s success levels, as it ensures that one is able to stick to a given path irrespective of the general expectations or challenges that one may encounter. Through self-discipline, I always have high levels of control and motivation towards staying on track, as well as, working towards what I consider as being right. The discipline I hold for myself projects who I am as an individual, as it builds on the understanding that I am able to accomplish set out goals within given periods.

Inaccurate or Questionable Strengths

From the assessments, I believe that only one strength is questionable, which is communication. After analyzing myself from an individual perspective, I noted that my communication skills were not as good as has been suggested considering that I find it difficult when passing on ideas especially in a group of people. In most cases, I find it difficult in trying to communicate with a group of people when focusing on a given idea regardless of whether the ideas I generate are able to guarantee success. Although I have the ability to communicate, I believe that my abilities do not reflect more on communication. Rather, I tend to focus more on the idea generation process, which is important towards ensuring that one is able to achieve set objectives. All the other strengths are represented accurately within the assessments that have been presented.

Strengths that I Do Not Have

From my assessment, I must point out that some of the strengths noted are weak, thus, creating the need for me to work towards working towards promoting that general improvement. The first strength, which I believe is weak, is developer. In this strength, one of the key expectation is that I always seek to fix some of the minor issues affecting my environment through which I am able to derive satisfaction. An analysis of myself indicates that although I derive satisfaction from perfection, I always find it hard in trying to change some of the minor issues that I consider as being imperfect. The outcome of this is that I tend to always find myself experiencing major disturbances when in an environment that has small issues that I cannot be able to fix.

The second strength, which I also noted as being weak, is positivity. In positivity, one is expected to always maintain highest levels of positivity regardless of the challenges that may arise within a given environment. Having positivity helps in defining the overall chances and possibilities of success considering that one will focus towards meeting specific goals or objectives. Although I believe in the fact that I am always positive with regard to what I do, this is a strength that I would need to improve on considering that this would act as a determinant of whether indeed I am able to achieve my expected outcomes. In some cases, especially after I have encountered challenges, I lack the expected positivity that would advance my abilities to overcome the challenges. Consequently, this acts as a clear indication of the fact that this particular strength is weak.
