The Meaning of the Word "Christian"

Question 1 

The word Christian in Colorado Christian University (CCU) means the institution is evangelical offering opportunities to students from all denominations without discrimination. Christianity is evangelical, as it does not recognize the confessional and denominational boundaries. CCU bearing the name Christian as part of its name shows the generosity of accommodating all the students and staff with different denominations including Mennonites, Anglicans, Lutherans, Presbyterians, and other denominations. The word Christian shows that all the people learning and working within the university are allowed to pursue their denominations without any restrictions ( Colorado Christian University., n.d. ). Additionally, the word Christian helps the students and the staff but also the university to build its reputation and popularity in the evangelical perspective. Many students and professionals from various countries portray their willingness to study and work in the university, as they are sure their denominations will not be suppressed. The faith of orthodox Christianity is evangelical based on the teachings of believing in one God as the umbrella of three forms the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit. The word in the name of the university and the belief in one God in three forms helps the university in maintaining their evangelical treatment of all the denominations. 

Question 2 

The meaning of the word Christian influences me in different ways. The meaning helps me understand the freedom of worship as expressed in the bible. Considering other universities in various parts of the world that the staff and the students working and studying in the university are forced to observe one denomination, leading to religious disagreements and conflicts. Moreover, the meaning helps me in strengthening Christian foundation through the understanding of one God in three forms ( Session 1 Biblical perspective ). The three forms are the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit. The meaning helps me in understanding the Bible as well as the importance of engaging in the word and the use of His word and prayers when faced with difficulties. I hope that by the time I will be leaving this university, I will be a changed person and in a position to help other people understand the word of God.
