The work has a different meaning for people, not necessarily the title suggested by the artist who hailed from Uganda in Africa. How the audience interprets the composition is normally in connection to their personal life experiences and understanding that relieves one of the pressures about getting the interpretation of the art right. Art is mainly done to be appreciated but often has deeper meanings. Man searching for meaning was created to tell a story. A story that the artist had experienced in their childhood and the difficulties he had to endure to become. However, the audience relates to the artist’s story to define the purpose of the art in their lives. Therefore, art is not just a product to be bought for luxury but a context through which the audience can understand the process that has led to the final art piece.

I like the composition because it tells a story through a different medium. The composition is a collage from newsprint paper and acrylic paint. The way the papers have been laid to represent brush strokes emulates the kind of creativity that exists in society. I like the way texture has also been achieved in the composition.
I do not like how the background of the composition has been left hanging, as I feel so much can be achieved by especially if color is introduced. I understand that the artist may have wanted floating images for the composition to introduce the aspect of mystery, but color works better for me in resting the movement of my eyes through the large piece. I would relate better to the art if I had a color that I relate to daily.
For me, 2D art is a simpler but creative way of representing three-dimensional forms of art. It is a window through which an audience can look through and reflect according to individual experiences.
I like paintings as the very basic, but it also has to encompass the human form so that I can have the power to manipulate their form and movement in ways that are beyond basic understanding, but this is possible if I am the author. In the case of other authors, I like to study their process and understanding in representing 3D human forms on a 2D surface.
The unit has facilitated my understanding of art in everyday objects, for instance, how newsprint and magazine papers can be reused in making art or how colors in nature itself blend in balance to incorporate artistic principles like the use of complementary colors.
Now I look for art in every object I see in a manner to criticize the artistic process that has gone into making the object. As a result, each object I see is now interpreted in 2D form, even if it stands in 3D. Their creation ion plan was put down in 2D form before being made into a 3D object. For instance, a water bottle is designed in 2D before the actual bottle is made in 3D form.
Color, to me, is necessary for everyday life because that’s what we understand and have grown accustomed to. Without it, we have space and not art. I think people should think of a world without color to understand the magnitude of the essence of color in their lives.
I think the kind of response we have to color is different because the experiences we have around color are different. For instance, if my favorite color is blue, my appreciation for art with that color will be different from someone who loves red.
Color has the power to control our emotions concerning our experiences with that color and how it has been represented in art.
