The rotorcraft projects had many challenges as it involved team members from France and Japan who had different backgrounds, cultural differences, values and norms. Language barriers and time differences, social economic, religious diversity and political differences slowed down the growth of the project, which resulted to misunderstanding among the team members. According to the Hofstede and Trompenaar, they analysed this cultural differences in terms of individualism, power distance, masculinity and uncertainty avoidance (PROJECT MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE., 2017). In the individualism, a high ranking indicates the society does do not embrace working as a group but prefers individual performers and this creates disunity, while a low ranking indicates that the society embraces group performance and there is unity in the society.
In masculinity versus feminist (MAS). Low MAS shows that the society embraces gender equality in all aspects whereas a high MAS indicates that there is gender inequality in the society, mostly wealth accumulation and power and ambitions are for men. The uncertainty avoidance indicates how people reduces uncertainty. A high ranking shows the society reduces the uncertainty by adhering to strict laws, rules and controls. Whereas a low ranking shows, the society does not adhere to rules and controls. The power distance measures how the society distributes powers and wealth. When power is distributed unequally in the project the power distance index (PDI) will be high. When the power is distributed, equally the PDI will be low.

In conclusion, the ARP manager faced a challenge of power distance. The project members from France have a high PDI whereas Japanese had a low PDI. The ARP manager need to have implemented a strategy of good knowledge and respect of the foreign culture solution was to mould the cultural differences into benefits and distribute powers and wealth equally.
