The administration for aging has been helping America care and prepare for its aging population through the provision of comprehensive, well-coordinated, and cost-effective long-term programs to provide and care for the elderly and their caregivers. To achieve this objective, the administration for aging designed different services that attracted the need for social workers to come on board to bolster the realization of this noble task. Administration of aging (AOA) designed supportive services, this called upon social workers to work closely and collaboratively to mobilize different service providers to help the elder with grocery, medical appointments and organization of meetings during the eldercare day to disseminate information to their patients and the caregivers (Kulik, Ryan, Harper, & George, 2014). Social workers are educators to their patients and in this case the elderly. Through the nutritional program, social workers are able to provide meals to the elderly across the U.S and teach them on the right nutrition to strengthen their health (Zastrow, 2017). Additionally, through preventive health services, the elders are taught on how to make better health decisions through services like smoke cessation, regular screening, and a good nutritional program.

Social workers further play a significant role in the administration of aging through the national caregiver support program aimed at educating the caregivers of the elderly on the available services, assisting caregivers to gain access to such services, counseling services, and organization of support groups (Kulik, Ryan, Harper, & George, 2014). Social workers are advocates for the elderly and they step in to educate them on their rights to avoid abuse or fraud (Zastrow, 2017). This program is aimed towards protecting the welfare and safety of the aging population.

Social workers through the Person in the Environment (PIE) theory have been able to advocate for the elderly through the identification of causative agents and contributors to the worsening conditions of the aging population and recommending suitable action in the process (Healy, 2014). The use of a person in the environment helped social workers assess the condition of their patients and make decisions about whether to take the elderly to the care homes or provide further training to their caregivers to improve their condition (Turner, 2017). Systems theory was also effectively employed by social workers and it is what informed the launching of the national caregiver support program. This theory focuses on the effectiveness and resourcefulness of the system in place (Healy, 2014). Psychosocial development theory was also in use as it covers a human development process and the underlying crisis at such a level. For the elderly, all they need is the care and love and social workers utilized the provisions of this theory to dispense such to the aging population in America.

Yes, I agree that administration for aging which complements the older Americans' act has really enhanced the lives of our elderly grandparents, parents, and relatives through the provision of nutritional support, advocative services to detect and prevent any sort of abuse. It has also ensured exhaustive education on health services to enable the aging population to make better nutritional decisions, health choices like smoking cessation, and avoidance of alcohol. This program has been instrumental in addressing problems faced by the aging population and helping them live with dignity with the provision of love and care within the society.
