Deciding the starting point of a career is very challenging and intimidating. The significant questions regard which industries offer better perks and how the industry can help an individual grow both personally and professionally. The consulting industry is among the rapidly growing, exciting, and financially rewarding careers in the market right now. I want to be an Educational Consultant for Literacy when I am done with school. This career path offers several benefits that will foster my professional and personal development.
The first reason is flexibility in the working hours. I have always had the desire to work on my terms. This does not mean I would like to work less, but the flexibility is essential. Consultants have more control over their schedule and workload. A consultant can create a schedule that suits their daily activities and can decide on whether to take a project or not (Ray, n.d.). Secondly, I can focus on my expertise, which is an education-related field. Working as an educational consultant will help me realize my dream of working in my preferred field.

This field offers me a chance to make an immediate impact. The only requirement for a consultant to hit the ground running is a client. This field does not require annual performance appraisals, but the immediate success form client to client is proof of success. In addition, I will have a real shot in solving real-life problems. Consultancy involves solving problems faced by the clients and developing long-lasting solutions (Turner, 1982) . Finally, this field will allow me to develop personally and professionally by acquiring transferable skills, like problem-solving and effective communication. Solving problems with clients and communicating with them will refine my skills and take them to the next level.
Consultancy is an exciting field due to the many benefits associated with it. I aspire to be an Educational consultant after I complete my studies. This career is flexible, financially rewarding, and will allow me to develop both personally and professionally. It is undoubtedly an exciting opportunity for me.
