The Man with Leprosy
The incident of the healing of the man with leprosy took place when Jesus was climbing down a mountain with a large crowd following him. After performing the miracle, Jesus asked the man to go and present himself to the priest as a testimony. What prompted Jesus to heal the leper is because the man asked to be healed, saying “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean” (Mathew 5:2). Jesus taught the crowd the importance of petition in their prayers, an element that He showed His followers ( The Prayer Life of Jesus., n.d , p.103). Christians should always present their problems to God and believe that everything will happen according to His will.
Crippled Woman Healed on the Sabbath
Jesus healed a woman who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years at a synagogue on a Sabbath day. The synagogue leader was not pleased about this and claimed that there were only six days that man had to work, and he would rest on the Sabbath (Mathew 13:14). Jesus critiqued them for being hypocrites, and all his opponents became humiliated. Throughout His teachings, Jesus conveyed the importance of patience in prayers ( The Prayer Life of Jesus., n.d , p.100). The miracle has an exact number of years that the woman had suffered (Willmington, 2018), and this indicates that God listens to prayer no matter how long one has suffered. Also, moral difficulties sometimes impede one’s prayers ( The Prayer Life of Jesus., n.d , p.100), and Jesus criticized His opponents for not seeing that He had done a good deed on Sabbath. Christians in the twenty-first century should be patient and believe that God will answer their prayers any time; hence they should not get weary of praying and asking for God’s help.

Ten Healed of Leprosy
The healing of the ten men with leprosy took place when Jesus was travelling to Jerusalem along the border between Samaria and Galilee. The men asked Jesus to pity them, and it was then that He sent them to go to the priests for cleansing. On their way, they got healed, and when one of them saw this, he went back praising God in a loud voice (Mathew 17:14-15). One teaching of Jesus Christ was the importance of thanksgiving in prayer ( The Prayer Life of Jesus., n.d , p.103), and this is a lesson that manifested in the miracle where he healed ten lepers. Also, the overall mood of prayer can be thanksgiving rather than penitence (Carmy, 2017). Only one man, a Samaritan, returned to thank Jesus for being healed, whereas the other nine did not (Mathew 17.16-17) The teaching is essential to contemporary Christians because it demonstrates the importance of showing gratitude to God for what He does to them.
