PART 1
The young Mr Dolan blames his affair more on Polly than on himself. This is because she paid him alot of attention and even gave him extra help beyond the call of duty. He recalled how she warmed his dinner for him when he came in late and sat with him while he ate. She also served him with a glass of punch when he was late on a cold night. All this was done when she was wearing suggestive night clothes that encouraged him to overlook his celibacy. He believed that were it not for this actions, then nothing inappropriate would have taken place (Joyce, 1982).
PART 2
Mouhaya decides that her marriage began symbolically on the day they went skating because this was the first day they did a recreational activity together. The days before had been filled with daily routines that never gave them enough time to spent time getting to know each other. The day they went skating, they got to talk about each other’s likes and dislikes. Fadi had also showed Mouhaya around the town and shared his experiences about his time here. Basically, it was the symbolic start of their marriage though it had literally began earlier (Atallah, 2011).

PART 3
Nnaemeka's father is a strong willed and formidable character. He believes that marriage is a serious contract that should be devoid of feelings. He does not expect any marriage to be based on love. Instead, he believes that a successful marriage occurs when the man marries a good Christian woman. The said woman should be trained in the ways of the Bible and she should practice silence often. Nnaemeka's father is convinced that a choice of marital partner should approved by family. This is why he takes it upon himself to choose a wife for his son. It is also the reason he rejects his son's choice(Achebe, 1982)
