The regulatory board of Nursing in Florida ensures that individuals practicing nursing are qualified in terms of vital factors such as licenses, educates, monitors and rehabilitates ( Toney-Butler & Martin, 2018) . Health workers are required to hold minimum standards to ensure that safe and competent care is given to all patients in different healthcare settings. Consequently, the state has regulations imposed in Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) protocol. When signed by all parties, this protocol represents a mutual agreement of the physicians and the APRN. Three of the regulations are discussed in the following sections.

One of the regulations relate to the filling of the protocols by the practitioners. The board of nursing is not required to receive or maintain advanced practice registered protocols. An advanced practice registered nurse is required to perform only the activities that are authorized in the section 464.012(3) and within the framework of the established protocol maintained onsite at a location ( Florida Board of Nursing, 2016) . If multiple physicians are in the same group, an advanced practitioner registered nurse is required to enter into a supervisory protocol with at least one nurse within the physician group practice.

Collaborative practice agreement is another regulation imposed ( Florida Board of nursing, 2019) . For instance, it gives a descriptions of the duties of the physicians including matters of consultancy and therapy. One of the provision is that not all nurses qualify for the designation as a psychiatrist nurse; only an advanced practice registered nurse who has met the necessary requirements highlighted in the statute can be recognized as psychiatrist nurse. Another regulation is that for one to acquire an APRN license, they must have a separate license for a Registered nurse (RN) and they must have a national certification.

Looking at the quality that the APRN will provide, one of the change that I propose concerns the licensing. The qualification requirements for licensing should be homogenized in all states and also the scope of practice of APRNs be well defined. For this to change, a nationwide regulatory consensus model should be utilized where the board of nursing in all states meet to agree on the competency standards of the APRN ( GraduatenursingEDU.org. 2019).

To sum it, the three regulations including: Filling of protocols, descriptions of duties and licensing requirement of APRN are very critical in maintaining high standards of the Medicare services. For that matter, there is a need to bring the homogeneity in the licensing qualifications so that all states acquire the same level of competency standards for all the APRN
