The Effects of Intimate Relationships on Wellbeing

Relationships are supposed to nature and build those involved in it. The effects of these relationships can either be psychological or physical. The impacts on the individuals will depend on whether the relationship is healthy or not. When a relationship is healthy, there are many positive impacts that can be drawn from it. However, when the relationship is full of disturbances, the couple cannot really have sound psychological and physical health.

Here are the positive effects of an intimate relationship:

Intimate relationships improve a person’s self-esteem. Research shows that when one is in a relationship that is supportive and full of understanding, chances of him/her having the courage to face any social problems are very high. When someone doesn’t have that one partner whom they can talk all sorts of things without feeling embarrassed, the chances of him failing in even the simplest social tests are very high.

When a relationship is healthy and built in trust and understanding, it becomes quite easy to tackle personal problems. Sharing your problems with your partner ensures that you reduce the

weight on your sholders. There are some problems which you can’t share even with your closest friends but when you have someone you trust, it becomes quite easy to tackle such issues.

Medical research shows that being in a loving relationship can really play a big role in improving one’s health. This is of course caused by the psychological calmness. The more calm you are in all parts of your body, the better the physiological side of your body works

When relationships work, everything seems to fall into place.

What happens in the bedroom is worth mentioning too. The intimacy in the bedroom ensures that both parties are satisfied in all aspects but most importantly, psychologically. Love in the bedroom has proven to be one of the best natural pain killers. Whenever of the partners is stressed up, this could be the secret to relieving that stress.

It is always a very good feeling when an intimate relationship works out. The manner in which the couples handle one another in any scenario matters a lot. If one of the partners does not respect the needs of the other, it might lead to a crisis in future.

Despite the fact that an intimate relationship is expected to be of pure benefit to both parties, sometimes it doesn’t just work out.

There are those relationships which never worked out from the start but the partners moved in anyway. Sometimes, relationships might start on a high note but later start falling apart because the couples cannot satisfy one another anymore.

This is when one partner starts internalizing the negative aspects of the other. Even the smallest mistakes start to matter. During this kind of situation is when the negative effects of a relationship start to show.

Here are the negative effects of an intimate relationship that has fallen apart, or is beginning to fall apart:

The main impact on the wellbeing of an individual is depression. This is very common in relationships where one of the partners feels like he or she is not being treated as expected.

Depression is a very dangerous psychological unrest. The affected might find him/herself doing what you’d never expect them to do. It also leads to mental problems.

When one is depressed, he or she feels very low in terms of the moods and pleasure. This mental disorder is characterised with low self-esteem, poor concentration and even lose of appetite.

There is always the danger of the subject even commiting suicide if the root cause of this problem is not treated early enough.

Sometimes the affected may decide to look for ways to at least relieve the stress. This is when one finds him/herself practicing immoral behavior. Many people have found themselves in such situations and decided to get drunk in order to at least ease their minds, or so they say.

At the end of the day, they always find themselves in even tougher situations. There are those who will always spill their bins in public whenever they are drunk.

The money spent in this quest for a clear mind is a lot. In fact, most of these kind of people always find themselves regretting the next day.

Some might end up engaging in drug abuse. This is a common problem to the youths today. Whenever a relationship breaks, they feel like it’s the end of their lives.

More often than not, those who take this route are those who have never engaged in drugs. This is a negative impact to both the individual and the society at large. The society today depends on the youths for future developments, the moment drugs get into these young brains, the dark future sees the light of the day.

When an intimate relationship is not working, there is always the risk of one of the partners suffering psychological abuse.

The abusive words and gestures that partners find themselves throwing at each other may have severe emotional effect on the recipient. Although the affected may not realize it, studies show that the little abusive words that get into their minds have a way of haunting them in the future.

All these problems areavoidable and it all takes an effort from both parties.

There are strategies which partners can adhere to in order to keep the relationship going. Maintaining a healthy relationship is not an easy task, but once both parties have agreed on thing, it becomes smooth.

Before you get into a relatonship, it is aways advisable that make sure that that is the right partner. Relationships that end up failing are mostly those which the partners had conflicting objectives.

One partner might be after a long term relationship while the other is of a contrary opinion. Such issues end up messing up the whole party.

Here are a few strategies of mantaining a healthy relationship is it’s already underway.

Communication

This is the main factor that will determine whether a relationship will go far or not.

When partners communicate their problems to each other, it becomes even easier for them to understand each other. It becomes a problem when one partner has issues with the other but chooses to keep it to him/herself.

Many relationships that fail are those where one or both of the partners do not listen to one another. When pride takes root in a relationship, the future of that relationship fades away.

Respect each other privacy

When one of the partners feels that their freedom of privacy is being infringed, they will probably choose to walk away. A healthy relationship is built on trust, and once you stop respecting the other partner’s privacy, the trust fades away.

The fact that you want to know what the other person is doing when you are not around shows that you don’t trust that person. That therefore seizes to be a healthy relationship.

When trust prevails in a relationship, the future of that relationship becomes brighter.

Compromise

Disagreements happen in any healthy relationship. Giving your views in such situations, rather than just doing what is said by the other partner, is what makes the relationship even healthier.
