The roaring twenties is a period, which resulted in pain, bloodshed, and oppression from the many created gangster groups. Al Capone was a brutal killer known for his notoriousness since he ended up killing other group gangsters. As a result, he was recognized as the public enemy because he had killed most of the notorious gangsters and was a wanted man. During this period, many cases of bootlegging and prohibition reported were reported. Al Capone and his group were considered to be among the biggest suppliers of distributing illegal alcohol (Bearce, 2015).

Based on the control of drugs, some similarities between the current government and the government of the roaring twenties period are identifiable. In comparison, during the period of the roaring twenties, the government was unable to control most of the drug distribution. At this time, there were many drug lords such as Al Capone and his group members ( Hipango, Smith & Dana, 2014) . These groups had access to strong firearms, which helped them eliminate anyone who came their way. In today’s government, the issue concerning the war on drugs is a serious topic on any society. The government has introduced policies and laws that govern and ensures that it controls the distribution of illegal drugs.

Crime is related to things that are banned such as marijuana and illegal liquor. Studies have highlighted that the use of marijuana and other illegal drugs results in higher crime rates (Morris et al., 2014). Reasonably, the distribution of illegal drugs ends up creating groups full of gangsters, who in the end are required to go around selling and distributing the drugs. In return, the groups end up participating in crime most cases. In today world, people are willing to join any gangster groups since it will protect them, while at the same time they will be able to buy and sell illegal drugs.
