In the current world, the battlefield is becoming digital. Cyber-attacks is an issue of both national and global security. The United States of America, for instance, is currently dealing with issues of national security which involve cyber-attacks. These attacks are majorly initiated from outside of the country by some of the old and new enemies of America. In the current year and the coming years, cyber-attacks are believed to become one of the most critical issues which will require the full attention of the US national security and the global security at large. The government has to find better ways for bolstering its cyber capability and block the possible future cyber threats. The government of the United States should identify and take stronger actions against cyber-attacks. One of the ways of ensuring that cyber security is regulated and controlled is through cooperation with other nation and open engagement on the issue. Another way to keep cyber-attacks at bay is the promotion and development of science and technology by the government to create a superb cyber-workforce.

The intelligence with which cyber-attacks are conducted makes it quite difficult to deal with or even understand cyber-attacks. Cyber security has risen as one of the fastest growing threats facing America. Cyber-attacks can be launched together with physical attacks (Jordan, et al. 2011). Cyber-attack may be used to render the country, state, city or an organization weak such that it may not be able to deal with other forms of attack. Right now there have been warnings, some of which have emanated from the national security, about cyber-attacks on the United States’ infrastructure. Cyber security is not only limited to financial institutions and infrastructure. Cyber-attacks may be directed towards any organization or person (Walt, 1991). Critical state and national government projects and programs can be hacked or breached through these attacks.

One of the ways through which the government can be able to counter cyber security is by developing stronger international cybersecurity engagement. There have been reports of threats emanating from countries like China and Russia. The US government should create allies and increase cooperation and coordination with other nations. In international conferences, the issue of cyber security should be discussed with the US in the frontline of the congregation. The US government, for instance, should be open and name some of these nations from which the cyber threats and attacks are coming from. In an international forum, the US government together with other countries may discuss various ways to counter cyber-attacks globally. Each nation will then be charged with the responsibility of keeping cyber-attacks at bay.

Another way by which the US government can be able to control or counter cyber-attack is through developing a superb cyber workforce. Science and technology need to be promoted in the country. Subjects such as mathematics and engineering should be promoted and invested in by the United States government. One the things that any country requires to combat and counter cyber-attacks is an intelligent workforce. This workforce may be incorporated into the US national security

Cyber security is a significant issue of concern for every state, the national security and whole globe as at large. The threat is growing quite fast, and a need to counter this threat is quite necessary. Promotion of science and technology may come as a long-term solution to the situation though it may take some time to put it to work. On the other hand, a cooperation of the US government with other nations to coordinate and lay down strategies for combating cyber-attacks may prove to be a quicker and easier way to deal with the situation.
