The education offered in any learning institution has a significant effect on the learner. The way children are educated from kindergarten to the higher institutions of learning determines the kind of scholars that come out of the system. That means that the education system determines the capabilities of the professional workforce that exist in a country since these are the same people who will be employed to work in different establishments. The system has the power to determine how effective the working population will be over the years as well as how the economy will be in the nation ( Blossfeld, Schneider and Doll, 2009). Thus it is important that the government ensures that the education system affects the learners positively in such a way that they come out of the system in their best form. However, there are those who feel that the results of the system are solely determined by the individual learner and how they conduct themselves. Every education system has its benefits and shortcomings. Many people dislike the learning system in Germany, but it still has a few advantages to offer.

The education system in Germany offers three directions for students. There is Gymnasium for jobs in fields like medicine and teaching, Realschule for white collar jobs and Berufschule for blue collar jobs. The system targets to bring out a highly qualified workforce which is government funded. One advantage of the system is that it ensures that the student is well learned in a particular field and that he has adequate knowledge to do anything that is required of him. Any student who shows capabilities of doing well in their early life stages in a certain category is given a chance to excel in that field as stated by Blossfeld, Schneider and Doll, 2009). Since the education is funded, the country will always have an educated and well-trained workforce.

Another advantage is that students are put in the education levels that they can manage. The learners are categorized according to their capabilities, thereby, not wasting time doing other studies which will end up discouraging them. The students are trained only in the departments that seem relevant to them giving them an opportunity to prove that they can do well in various areas. People are talented differently, and if they fail to do well in a particular area, it is likely that they will do tremendously in another as astated by Lamerz, et al. (2005) . Everyone is given a chance to prove themselves.

It is easy to conclude that the German education system has little benefits to offer. The fact that the direction which a child’s career will take is decided at a very early age denies the person a chance to diversity. The individual can only do the jobs that are in the field which he or she has been trained in and if they are interested in a different field, it is almost impossible to shift. The job market also experiences changes now and then, and some jobs may require an all rounded person. However, the system ensures that the students come out when they are adequately trained to work in the various areas. In conclusion, it is likely that most people would welcome changes in Germany’s learning system but the benefits which the system offers still count.
