The film I watched that has not been watched in class is “The Way of The Dragon” produced in 1972. The film was directed by Bruce Lee, who was a martial arts master and co-starred with the lead actor Chuck Norris who at the time was the world’s Martial Art Champion (“The Way Of The Dragon | TV Guide”, 2020). The genre for this movie is action and adventure. Bruce Lee (real name Tang Lung) visited Rome intending to help his cousin, who was running a restaurant business but was being forced to sell it to the local gang. Conflict and tension slowly develop within the film, especially with the gang challenging Lee together with the workers.

Several special effects, stunts, and camera angles were applied during the production of the film as a result of the many action scenes in the movie.

The following three special effects attracted my attention :

Once in the movie, Lee’s coworkers asked him to teach them while still showing them his Kung Fu skills. While practicing outside, one coworker holds something for him to kick, and after kicking the person holding the thing flies on air falling on stacked boxes. The way he ruined the boxes is a fantastic stunt used within the movie.

In retaliating to the mess caused by lee to his gang, the mob’s boss visited the restaurant to meet with Lee. Regrettably, Lee had left to visit Rome; consequently, the boss and his gang had beaten everybody in the restaurant by the time Lee was back. After arriving into the scene, Lee is forced to go outside after being pointed with a gun. Shortly, a fighting scene escalates after Lee gets a chance to retaliate, attacking the man holding the gun, ending up on fighting with eight mobsters against him. The fighting stunt in this scene is one of the most crucial parts of the film. Additionally, in this scene, Lee demonstrates one unique skill known as “Kendo,” which nobody ever used it before.

The movie has an unforgettable and most notable fighting stunt scene where two great Martial Art professionals Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris, face each other. Many people agree that this scene is the most historical and memorable in the film. Chuck Norris was demonstrated as the utmost American martial Arts professional, having been hired by the boss of the mob to murder Lee. The battle amid these two professionals took place at the Gladiators’ arena in Rome.

Sound plays stood out in three locations playing essential roles in the film. These are:

When the first time, Thugs enters the restaurant through the door ever since Lee arrived, and the gang’s leader took off his glasses to look at the guests within the restaurant. The sound of their entrance creates more suspense.

The sound produced when Lee walked in for the first time involving himself with the fight at the back of the restaurant against the mob and the sound produced he produced while hitting the people. These sounds help to add to the movie while immersing the audience into it.

The music playing while Lee chases the sniper who had tried killing him. The music, while making the chase together with the fighting scene, produces more suspense making the movie more thrilling.

Color plays a significant part within the film, these are;

Once in the movie, the chef called his coworkers to help in defending against the thugs. The workers wore red shirts and black pants. Additionally, the floor of the restaurant is red while the walls are painted white. These colors made the scene more colorful and livelier.

Lee and the girl in the movie went to their apartment, after opening the door and turning the lights on, a hitman was hiding in the dark side of the room. The dark color added into him a scarier face.

The final combat amid the two professionals (Lee and Chuck Norris) is unbelievable. In this part of the movies, the actors whimsical exaggeratedly fitted structure and muscles of their bodies, and the color produce more beauty making the scene livelier. During the fight scene, the tone clearly demonstrates how the fight becomes bloodier. Color makes the movie in this scene more remarkable.
