Authors must narrate captivating narratives, which ensures the reverence of their work from readers. Creativity is an artistic skill in writing that, when critically applied, assists narrators to achieve the motive mentioned above. It is after the second week that the narrator’s world inside the narrator’s room becomes more significant to her than the world outside her room. It presents the application of creativity in the narrative “The Yellow Wallpaper,” using contrast to capture the imagery in the depiction to reflect a patriarchal society.

In “The Yellow Wallpaper,” the world inside the narrator’s room becomes more significant to her than the world outside her room after two weeks of their stay in their new ancestral hall for the summer. The narrator draws into perspective the perception of her husband, John, regarding the room. He views it as an ideal place for the narrator to recover quickly, thereby needing little-or-no refurbishment. The narrator describes the growth of fondness regarding the room, excluding the horrid paper proceeding to paint a picture of the world outside her room. She fancies the latter. She describes a garden harboring riotous flowers from one end outside a window. From the second window, the narrator describes a fancy bay that has a beautiful shaded lane that originates from the house. It depicts the contrast of the world outside her room in comparison to the inside, which horrifies the narrator. The contrasting depiction fortifies the imagery within the narrative regarding the oppressiveness of a patriarchal society.
