A degree qualification is not a mandatory requirement for one to work in film production. However, a degree in a relevant field such as cinematography gives a head start. Long experience in areas such as TV, motion picture, theatre production, acting, video editing, or cinematography helps one become a good film producer. Film producers should have the ability to work for long and irregular hours and under pressure to meet specific deadlines (Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, 2019).

Required skills for film critics include a passion and knowledge of films and the ability to concentrate when seeing the movies and give reviews within the required time limit. The ability to set aside one’s moods and distractions to provide an unbiased review and excellent communication skills to enable one to express his/her opinions clearly, avoiding misunderstanding by producers and the audience, are also necessary skills in film production. Experience required for film critics is to have worked in media production, e.g., magazine or other print and electronic media, as an intern (Debenedetti, 2006). One should also have prior writing experience. A degree qualification is not a mandatory requirement for one to work as a film critic. However, a degree in a relevant field such as cinematography, video editing, and film production is an added advantage (Debenedetti, 2006).

Everyday duties of someone working in film production include creating motion pictures, television shows, and live theatre. Film producers also prepare commercials and create performing arts productions. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' job outlook for film producers is that the industry will grow with an estimated 5 percent from 2018 to 2028 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, 2019). The factors that will lead to job growth in film production are high demand for movies, and television shows, and an increased appetite for the U.S. produced films by foreign audiences.

According to Debenedetti (2006), the job responsibilities of a film critic are to analyze films to give professional reviews about different film aspects when movies are being produced. After production, film critic’s reviews assist the producers in making changes in other and incoming productions. They also help create a public image of flip-flops of a film, critically analyze films, and give feedback about their worthiness.

The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics' job outlook for film critics is that the industry will continue to grow (Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, 2019). The growth is attributed to the increased production of films, and thus more film critics will be needed. Film critics find career prospects in mass media, both print and electronic, and as part of the jury in film fair awards. Film critics can also develop blogs, websites, and social media websites where they give their reviews of different films.

Some of the requirements that interviewers look for when searching for the best candidates to employ as film producers are internship experience in areas related to film production, such as cinematography, video editing, etc. Skills in communication, leadership, business, management, and creativity are also a requirement for persons searching for employment in film production. A degree is not a mandatory requirement, but educational qualifications in relevant fields is a head start. 

Some of the requirements that interviewers look for when searching for the best candidates to employ as film critics are experience working as an intern in print or electronic media. A degree is not a compulsory requirement but possessing educational qualifications in fields such as film studies, journalism, and mass media increase one's prospects of getting the job. Skills in writing and communication are also requirements. Individuals may be required to produce their writing samples.

According to Gharbaoui (n.d.), some of the advantages of film production career are it provides creative freedom enabling one to explore his/her talent and offers an opportunity to choose multiple art forms such as sound design, costume design, scriptwriting, directing, and make-up artists. It also creates a social environment to interact with persons with similar interests, dreams, and mindsets. It offers an exciting environment to work in, creating memorable experiences that become a part of a person’s lifestyle. Further, it creates a rewarding experience for an individual and team effort to view a movie that you produced.

According to Gharbaoui (n.d.), film production career has a lot of disadvantages. First, film production presents a tough start when beginning a career, and it's important to be patient and dream more. Secondly, it is associated with a lot of criticism from colleagues, friends, and relatives. Thirdly, the career may lead to an encounter with eccentric people who have queer habits and character. Lastly, film production career is time-consuming and requires long hours of investment, including overtime, especially during the film production phase.

According to Debenedetti (2006), a film critic career offers a wide range of benefits. Some of these benefits include: o ne gets to explore their analyzing skills, jogging the mind to become better in analyzing everyday life situations. Film critic career also offers a rewarding experience as one gets to be paid for their critical analyzing skills.

It is essential to note film critic career has some disadvantages. First, the career is faced with a lot of criticism from the audience for doing a particular review (Debenedetti, 2006) . Despite being objective in their remarks, they still get criticized by the audience who love a specific movie. Secondly, the career has been associated with job losses (Sayad, 2015). Its prospects of getting a regular job seem to be decreasing, and individuals need to seek new ways of criticizing films such as personal blogs and social websites.
