Article summary
Last month saw a reduction of apprehensions at the U.S.-Mexico border despite the push by Trump administration to implement the ‘zero tolerance’ policy. In May and June, illegal border crossings fell by 18%, according to the data provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (Rhodan, 2018). Crossings at the border have reduced, compared to the numbers recorded in the past decades. Tyler Houlton, the Press Secretary to the Homeland Security department continues to push the Congress to put the border crisis to a halt, by shutting down legal loopholes that facilitate illegal immigration (Rhodan, 2018). Although the Attorney General was vocal that zero tolerance policy will continue to be implemented as a way of cracking down illegal immigration, it continues to face heated backlash due to separation of young ones from their parents.
Thoughts about President Trump
I think President Trump and his administration have resolved to end illegal immigration once and for all, while still ensuring the safety of young ones is guaranteed. Notably, although the rights of children are being looked at, adults who have entered the U.S. borders illegally will still face punishment.

Opinion of President Trump
The Trump administration is simply determined to put to an end illegal immigration, especially on the U.S.-Mexico border. Under the ‘zero tolerance’ policy, Trump administration is using tough vetting procedures, in a bid to single out unaccompanied minors, fond of entering U.S. borders alone. His administration is determined to use resources, to ensure that the re-unification process that seems to halt the ‘zero tolerance’ is sorted out amicably. For instance, DNA tests are being conducted to determine the biological connection of the adults and the children.
