Inflammatory breast cancer (from now on IBC) is one of the cancers that affect human species. It is the most virulent form of breast cancer as it spreads rapidly. Biologically and medically, IBC was initially managed by several multidisciplinary modalities, such as the apparent systemic chemotherapy, radiation therapy, imaging, and sometimes surgery. Recently, science sought to evaluate whether the antioxidant referred to as epigallocatechin-3-gallate (from now on EGCG) that originates from green tea actually inhibits the intensification of inflammatory breast cancer-causing cells that have been recognized in the breast tissue of patients. Fundamentally the study discovered that indeed EGCG works out positively in inhibiting the growth of such cells as it is discussed below.

The Overall Hypothesis of the Experiment

It believed that diet and environmental aspects crucially play a role in infection, and development of cancer, especially inflammatory breast cancer in women. Similarly, epidemiological discoveries also posit that United States women immigrants from Asia are at a higher risk of contracting or developing this type of cancer and their subsequent deaths; this discovery was also based on the comparison that Asian and United States environment and dietetics. It is discovered that Asian majorly drinks a lot of green tea. Hypothetically, Green tea is linked to superior prospects of recovery by the cancer patients and that patients consuming green tea before cancer diagnosis have a reduced subsequent risk of re-occurrence.

Cell Culture and Treatment Conditions

Just like any other scientific research or biology experiments, usually, a condition is always compared to a group that will not receive treatment; this is what is referred to as a control group. This control group helps scientists helps or allows them to at least reduce the effect of the available variables apart from the independent variable; here the group that does not receive treatment is used to compare, assess and evaluate results of the of that treatment. In this research, several cells were isolated from the already infected tissues; the cells were then developed in a mediatech solution that contained fetal bovine serum otherwise referred to as Invitrogen, with hydrocortisone, penicillin, and Hyclone. Notably, after confirming the cells in the culture were mycoplasma-free, the same was injected with EGCG substance extracted from green tea.

Researchers Report on the Results

The researcher here comes up with conclusive information that EGCG fundamentally reduces any intensification of a tumor. In this research, the scientist used female mice to ascertain these findings, firstly, the mouse was injected with cancer like cells and after some time, treatment initiated by injecting the mouse with mouse EGCG for several days at regular intervals. It was later discovered that the tumors had decreased. Summarily, the researcher reports that the positive effect of using ECGCG treatment is significant as compared to the control groups. The researcher here confirms that indeed the green substance otherwise referred to as EGCG hampers any further the development of tumors and breast cancer-causing cells.

Scientific Method

In any research, there is always a planned experimental design to follow through the research process. From this article there I no doubt that the researcher followed the stated design. This is epitomized from the onset in their ethics statement which states that all the animals/mice used in the whole process conducted in the approved ways and that all surgeries were performed under Isoflurane anesthesia and to minimize animal suffering. Categorically, through the research methods and materials. The step by step reporting towards the conclusion is an indicator that the research was conducted according to the experiment design.

Supporting the Hypothesis

The hypotheses in this research revolved around women who take green tea are at a lower risk of getting infected with cancer cells. Nevertheless, Asian population consumption of green tea has a reduced rate of inflammatory breast cancer. This hypothesis was adequately supported. Firstly, it was through epidemiological study and diet that shows that consumption of tea reduces the reoccurrence of cancer cells even before diagnosis. Similarly, it is also discovered that roughly Polyphenols contains about 40% of green tea leaves which contains EGCG substance that is highly rich in anti-cancer qualities. In conclusion, therefore, this research and findings is a greater benefit. It has significantly increased the survival chances of cancer patients as compared to other methods of treatment and management of cancer. The use of EGCG is more of homecare, affordable and can be self-administered daily either as prevention or treatment.
