Case scenario on rape
A scene where a certain lady Kimi who is a Native American woman was group rapes while at the age of 16 as she was walking home from school. The whole experience therefore changed her whole life since she could no longer feel safe walking alone anywhere. She also alienated and distanced herself from her friends since she was experiencing some king of depression due to the sexual abuse. She lived in fear and stress and experienced endless nightmares of what occurred and of what would happen next and also of those who were around her from time to time. At times she would think of committing murder since she felt she did not deserve a space in the world full of harsh people.
When and How Will Assessment of PTSD be completed?
I will complete an assessment of PTSD immediately when I notice a positive turn of events where Kimi becomes negative in life and shows signs of a traumatic experience.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Discuss the three goals of the assessment and explain why these goals are so important in the assessment of PTSD
The assessment will be to remove any form of fear from her by building self-esteem in her life so that she can easily socialize with other people. Also I will encourage her on not giving up in life but rather looking at the brighter side of it hence it will make her firm on making certain decisions. Lastly, it will help in distracting her from negative thoughts that will alter her state of being since it will keep her busy at all costs.
How Will I Gain/Assess More Information about the Abuse that has Occurred?
I will interview her to know her general feeling about the experience and what led to it. I will also gain more information concerning the abuse by visiting the hospital where she received the medical care to know if there were other complications after the rape act. It will enable me to know if she contracted some infections such as STDs or HIV/AIDS during the process, received some physical injuries or even became pregnant.
In your scenario do you need to report the abuse?
Yes, I need to report the abuse since it’s a violation of human rights.
If yes, identify your state's (ALABAMA) procedures for reporting the abuse.
For Florida, reporting abuse is mandatory per Florida Statute 39.201(1)(a) where the law states that a person committing the crime of rape under the First degree by engaging in sexual intercourse with a party of the opposite sex through forcible compulsion deserves a jail sentencing for 5 years (Williams and Walfield 2015).
