Traumatic and stressful events are a major occurrence in DACA young adults. In the USA, these individuals play a significant role in contributing to the overall co-existence of the community. There are numerous studies conducted to assert how these DACA individuals undergo fear, toxicity or health effects especially with the recent backlash from the government about the deportation of unregistered or foreign individuals. Immigration policies are affecting a large section of these individuals. President Trump has intensified the national debate on immigration after taking the oath of office. The primary focus of the President has been to ensure that the policies that enhance immigration enforcement and restriction of immigration entries from a selection of administrative countries are implemented terming the process as protection against terrorism. Over twenty-three million non-citizens in the United States are affected by this climate surrounding these policies even on parliamentary debates. Communities affected with these policies are those that have immigrated to the United States to fend for their families abroad or seek higher standards of living. A focus group has been conducted in this study to illustrate how over 12 million children who live with non-citizen parents and are predominantly US citizens are affected in different but negative ways where (13 paediatricians, 100 parents from15 countries) are put under a study to illustrate how this current co-existence is impacting their well-being, health of immigrant families and daily lives. Therefore, to summarize, this study is mainly conducted to illustrate why the treatment that these young adults undergo is not equitable or fair. It also gives ultimate impact supposing that all the DACA youth are to be deported and any assistance that can be offered from a sociological perspective.
A resounding level of fear and uncertainty is experienced in these immigrant families not excluding even those that have legal statuses,Muslims and Latinos are particularlythose that are affected with fear across all background and locations. The ultimate concern for these undocumented individuals is either losingstatuses for those with legalstatuses or fear of being separated from their families when deported. All of these occurrences escalated after the rescission of the Deferred Action for Child Arrivals program in 2017 where parents and even children were in fear of separation. Most of the complaints were based on parents claiming that their children were experiencing trauma after trying to shield them from this information although it still penetrated while they were in school or even at social events. According to one Latino parent from Boston, Massachusetts, he wakes up every day with the fear of being deported and being separated from his kids. Another Arabic-speaking parent from California also claimed that they were becoming unstable and uncomfortable as they felt that a new rule would be issued thus expelling or sending them back.

The treatment that theseyoungadults were undergoing was not fair and equitable. For instance, after elections, there had been an increasing number of discrimination and racism which included bullying in kids. Muslims and Latinos had been most affected according to research conducted. Most importantly, bullying in children does extend beyond immigrants to younger adults or children of color thus indicating that immigration status does not count. Also, according to a paediatrician from Pennsylvania, these children do not know how the system works so when they are misjudged or bullied they tend to undergo a lot of stress and trauma. According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, it is now known that there were participating parents who had immigrated to the United States to stay away from their native countries or gangs and war to fend for their families or reunite with their family members. Most of these parents have children who never visited their proclaimed native countries, and some of the siblings are only protected under the DACA program which the president plans to scrap off.
Firstly, there were mental health issues, behavioral issues and psychosomatic symptoms that were manifested in numerous ways through increased fear among children. This study exposed that there were increased agitation and restlessness, problems in eating and sleeping and withdrawal from families and friends brought about by behavioral issues among younger adults in a report from paediatricians and parents. Additionally, stomach aches, nausea, vomiting and headaches were some of the psychosomatic symptoms that were also experienced by these children.
Secondly, increased fear and stress negatively affected some of the children’s performance in school according to concerns expressed by both paediatricians and parents. Children affected had increased difficulty in paying attention in their studies since they were experiencing fear and worries about losing single or both of their parents to deportation. Increased school reports of attention-deficit were being reported a couple of times to paediatricians. According to a Pediatrician from Texas, there was some regression in some of the children development stages. For instance, they were wetting their bed if in the past they never experienced such circumstances.
Thirdly, the well-being of parents has been affected by increased fears thus making it more difficult for them to focus on feeding or care giving their families. Further reports also claim that these parents were also undergoing trauma due to the same issues that were affecting their children especially those that pertained color or even their children’s dwindling performances. Physically, parents also reported suffering from either headaches or nausea which were occurring due to worries and stress. Depression and anxiety were also some of the indications forwarded in instances where parents had a history of trauma or persecution. Therefore parents generally had difficulty in focusing on care giving, and thus they became withdrawn from their family chores. Additionally, in families that had different immigration statuses, there were difficult relationships since there were complications on U.S. born citizens and the undocumented with or with no DACA status.
The ultimate impact of deporting youth under the DACA program would be seen in changes in how most parents would have to seek health care for their children. This was in response to increased worries which were not made although there were some descriptions of changes in health care units. Most of the parents also were in agreement of prioritizing their children’s health over their worries and fears. There was a decline in changes or visits of some of the parents and paediatricians. For instance, a decrease in well-child visits, expectant mothers seeking prenatal care and in follow-ups on referrals with providers that families do not have previously existing relationships was experienced. Furthermore, parents even never took calls from home health visits. Paediatricians also claimed that some of the parents shun away from offering information on scheduling an appointment by shifting from using scheduled visits to walk-in visits. According to some of the parents in Boston, they did opt for morning hospital visitations rather than odd time hours since they felt it was safer. Parents even went further to bundling visits together thus minimizing frequent visits which reduced the number of times they were outside their houses and even other parents preferred utilizing Latino providers in certain environments.
Lastly, there were long-term consequences of the current environment for children expressed by paediatricians concerns uniformly. The damaging effects of mental health and toxic stress over a long time of period could cause a longstanding health impact on children and also adults. Distress that results in physiological changes that could contribute to increased mental health disorders and chronic diseases in the current environment could affect these children through adulthood according t othe U.S. Department of Homeland Security (2017). Consequently, stress levels on the border between Mexico and USA are extreme. This is mainly because of the militarization of the area and the constant visual presence of border patrol police officers within the area. Children could also be affected through the decline in participation in the SNAP and WIC programs which negatively impacted healthy development of the younger generation. According to the paediatricians, more severe and costly conditions were cautioned suppose this reduction in health care use continued. Children’s physical activities and enrichment opportunities could also be compromised since they spend an increased amount of time locked in the houses.
According to research conducted above, the ultimate impact of deporting youth under the DACA program would be: the destruction of family relationships, reduce intermarriages, breakup families and increase stress levels and worries in children and families in summary. Sociologically, suppose the DACA program is scrapped off, it would be of vital importance if the parents and children would be allocated a paediatrician or medical assistant. This would help them in copingwith these tough situations and a small-centre dedicated to educating and empowering the reasoning of these affected children should be erected. This is because most of the DACA youth also need to undergo full psychological development within these socializing environments so that they can also fit a co-existing environmental set-up. Although this could incur costs, on the other hand, it would also create employment opportunities for some of these affected populations. Additionally, the implementation of some of the laws governing how DACA program could still stand in place should be effected.
