Explain where you agree and disagree and why

I agree that two accounts of creation are different in their literary styles, scope, and organization. For instance, Genesis 1 is written as “poetry” while Genesis 2 as ‘narrative”. Genesis 1 uses rhythmic repetition that in more poetic such as blesses the day, declares as good, speaks and God sees. Genesis 2 is presented as a story thus reading more like a narrative. I disagree with the idea that in Genesis 1, humans are both male. The reason is because God created a woman and man, and that is the reason why they are able to procreate and fill the world (Enns, 2010).

Describe new ideas that you haven't considered

The new ideas I have not considered is the major distinction between the accounts of creation in Genesis 1 and 2. I realized that to have an understanding of the texts, which is ancient, it is imperative for me to read the chapters without imposing contemporary ideas on these scriptures. This comprehension is crucial because it helps us Christians to be faithful to God as seek Him in the modern world. Therefore, despite the differences in these two accounts of creation in Genesis 1 and 2, it is important for Christians to approach the texts with ancient ideas and apply it our modern world, which will enable us to serve God faithfully (Enns, 2010).

Articulate questions that have been generated in your mind from the material

The questions that have been generated in my mind as I read the material was which of these accounts of creation is literally or scientifically true. In Genesis 1, Enns (2010) states that humans are both male while in Genesis 2, humans comprise of male and female. I have learnt that the differences between the creation accounts in these books do not teach science because the scriptures cannot be read with a scientific mind, because both accounts are not true at a scientific level (Enns, 2010). Therefore, it is evident that the creation accounts cannot be interpreted scientifically.
