Social problems are the prevalent issues in the community. Unemployment is among the major issues influencing society. It involves a decrease in the numbers of employed individuals. Developed and emerging economies considered that they are working communities. Work defines an individual’s value or status in society. Majority of the society members acquire their earnings from work. Work is a form of social security in the community. Unemployment is a threat to the livelihood of the jobless person. Also, it affects the income of the individual’s family or community. Unemployment is the primary cause of high poverty levels. It can also influence the crime and suicide rates. Unemployment causes illness such as diabetes, hypertension, or depression. Thus, unemployment is the main challenge in the society that needs to be addressed.

Lack of proper education facilities reduces the literacy rates in society and increases unemployment levels. Illiterate individuals cannot secure employment opportunities to meet the basic needs. Only qualified persons get positions where they receive adequate salaries to sustain their needs. There is a conflict between the wealthy and poor individuals in the society on provision of education facilities. The facilities in the society are unequally distributed, and children from poor families cannot access the best education services using the conflict theory framework. Alternatively, children from wealthy families get the best education services (Boland, Griffin, & Manchester University Press, 2015) . The community leaders control the institutions that provide high-quality education. However, the leaders influence the decisions of the managers in the schools about the children who should access education services (Boland, Griffin, & Manchester University Press, 2015) . Education levels have a significant influence on unemployment rates.

Gender influences the unemployment rates in society. Men secure job positions easily as compared to women. The feminist framework provides that men are perceived to dominate in the society. For instance, companies give men a priority when recruiting employees. The society and companies perceive that men are productive as compared to women. Men occupy the high positions in companies. Men are given the authority to dominate over women in the work setting. Women cannot contribute to decision-making because corporations believe that men make concrete decisions. Therefore, the unemployment rates of women are high as compared to those of men (Boland, Griffin, & Manchester University Press, 2015). Further, girls are not given opportunities to pursue careers such as medicine, law, or engineering. Most of the women study social sciences of business subjects. Thus, the unemployment rates among women increase because they pursue careers that have inadequate salaries (Boland, Griffin, & Manchester University Press, 2015). Gender differences have increased unemployment levels in the community.

The aspects of exclusion and low-class status cause long-term unemployment in the community. The wealthy and middle-class individuals do not interact with poor persons. The low-class people are excluded from development projects in the community. The feminist approach provides that social class influence the lives of community members. The upper-class persons perceive that lower-class people have no skills or are unwilling to work. The wealthy people prefer to hire middle-class employees whom they believe are productive and goal-oriented. Low-class individuals get limited opportunities in the society (Boland, Griffin, & Manchester University Press, 2015) . Exclusion and low-class status increase unemployment levels in the community.

In conclusion, unemployment is a major concern in society. Low education levels, gender differences, exclusion, and poverty increase the unemployment levels in society. Society leaders need to reduce the unemployment rates for economic development. The community leaders should ensure that education facilities offer similar services to increase literacy levels. Leaders should establish laws to facilitate women acquire the position in companies and pursue any career. The community can distribute wealthy equally to reduce social exclusion and class differences.
