Humans have been conflicting between two different ideologies which are the universalism and relativism. Universalism is the ideology that believes all human beings hold the same fundamental rights at all time regardless of their culture. On the other hand, relativism is an ideology that believes all human rights are determined by evaluation of their culture; historical background, religion, social context and their cultural practices. Relativism does not acknowledge the existence of universal human rights. According to universalism, an individual is viewed as a social unit that possesses their rights and thus the individual can pursue self interest. In relativism, the social unit is formed by the community such that community is the first priority (Renteln, 2013) .
In a multicultural state, there is a conflict on which ideology should be used. However; the most supported ideology is universalism because it does not dwell on the cultural background of an individual but the self interest. One disadvantage of relativism is conflict among people from different cultures. Take for example the sharing of resources, you find that those from a powerful culture or tribe or religion are likely to take advantage of those from less powerful tribe or religion.

Using above example on the impact of universalism and relativism on global social corporate responsibility; we are going to examine the effect of each ideology. Universalism will support for equality in social corporate responsibility. This is because the ideology supports individual consideration, basing on human rights. Therefore other factors such as culture, religion and social context of an individual will not be considered. This will supports for equality ion sharing the resources and even the benefits. Relativism on the other hand will base on the culture, religion and social context of an individual, therefore global social corporate responsibility will only focus on individuals who are recognized by their culture or religion, this will result to inequality.
