Statement of the Problem 

This research paper will purpose to evaluate the understanding of the student on the various expected course outcomes of this program. To achieve these expectations, the student will carry out an individual research in Unmanned Air Systems and their capabilities in the Civilian Sector. The student pursues Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics with the basic courses being aviation safety, aerodynamic and aviation legislation. 

Introduction 

The Unmanned air systems are the advanced technology that has the capacity to revolutionize the sectors of military and civilians. This technology will be an integral part of both the urban and civil application. This project will aim to explore the civil application of this technology. The knowledge and skills acquired while undertaking the Bachelor of Science in Aeronautic will be put into practice to complete this research proposal. Also, this research project will carry out a careful inquiry into various sectors where this technology can be applied and also the related issues. Both charts and graphs from reputable sources on the application of this technology in civilian sector will be incorporated in the research paper. The knowledge gained from this research will be utilized to give recommendations to different sectors for the breakthrough of this technology in civilian sector.

Program Outcomes Addressed 

Critical thinking 

The student will apply knowledge at a synthesis level to define and solve problems within professional and personal environment” (ERAU, 2014). 

This research project will include the critical skills acquired from the course of Bachelor of Science in Aeronautic to assess the student’s ability in rational judgement and finding solutions to various problems. The critical thinking skills will be used to come up with the research conclusions and recommendation. In essence the student will carefully evaluate the data derived from reputable academic sources. The research data will be derived from various sources for instance the federal Aviation Administration official website and database among other academic sources. 

Quantitative reasoning 

The student will demonstrate the use of digitally-enabled technology (including concepts, 

techniques and tools of computing), mathematics proficiency and analysis techniques to interpret data for the purpose of drawing valid conclusions and solving associated problems” (ERAU, 2014). 

The student will analyze data using various statistical techniques such as graphs, charts among others. The objective data will be used illustrate the application of Unmanned air systems in civilian sectors. Also, the student will use case studies, graphs and statistical data from various reputable sources to satisfy the requirements of this research. Finally, the conclusion of this research will be made from the analysis of correct quantitative data. 

Information literacy 

The student will conduct meaningful research, including gathering information from 

primary and secondary sources and incorporating and documenting source material in his or her writing” (ERAU, 2014). 

In this research, the student will cite the research work according to the rules of APA formatting styles to prove the information literacy. The primary sources for this research proposal will be from course textbooks and scholarly journals. Additionally, reputable internet sites will be used to gather information for this research. Finally, an appropriate approach demonstrating information literacy will be applied to explore and evaluate the data. 

Communication 

The student will communicate concepts in written, digital, and oral forms to present technical and non-technical information” (ERAU, 2014). 

The different tools of communication will be used by the researcher to present the research findings to the audience. These tools will include the written, electronic and verbal techniques for explaining both technical and non-technical information to the audience. The research paper will be submitted in Ms Word docs, formatted according APA styles. Finally, the PowerPoint presentation will be used to communicate the research findings. 

Scientific literacy 

The student will be able to analyze scientific evidence as it relates to the physical world 

and its interrelationship with human values and interests” (ERAU, 2014). 

The project will explain the application of Unmanned Systems in the sector of civilians by evaluating the scientific data. In this research project, a number of Unmanned Systems categories and the security issues will be analyzed. The paper will include the knowledge acquired while undertaking an aeronautic course. Finally, the paper will employ various scientific data to prove the proficiency in scientific literacy. 

Cultural literacy 

The student will be able to analyze historic events, cultural artifacts and philosophical concepts” (ERAU, 2014). 

The researcher will address the socio-economic impacts of Unmanned Air Systems on the civilians. In essence, the data presented in this research paper will elaborate the social and economic effect of the technology. Also, its general impacts on people and aviation will be evaluated. Finally, the knowledge gained by the student will be put into practice to evaluate how the society and culture are impacted by the new technologies in this case Unmanned Air Systems. 

Lifelong personal growth 

The student will be able to demonstrate the skills needed to enrich the quality of life through activities which enhance and promote lifelong learning” (ERAU, 2014). 

The knowledge and competency acquired while undertaking this program will the researcher’s lifelong personal growth. For instance, the skills and knowledge learnt from this program are important in the industry of aviation. These skills can be used to further professional career of the research, for example pursuing the career of aviation management and operations. Finally, the present experience of employees working in the aviation field will be used to demonstrate it. 

Aeronautical science 

The student will demonstrate an understanding and application of the basic and thus advanced concepts of aeronautical science as they apply to the aviation/aerospace industry for solving problems” (ERAU, 2014). 

This research project will explain the knowledge acquired while undertaking the program of aeronautic degree. In essence, the primary knowledge learnt from the primary courses such as aviation safety, aerodynamic and legislation in aviation industry will be used to analysed and know the applications of Unmanned Air Systems in the sector of civilian. Finally, the researcher will address the importance and the related security issues surrounding this technology. 

Aviation legislation and law 

The student will engage and discuss to present an understanding and application of basic concepts in National and International Legislation and Law as they pertain to the aviation/aerospace industry” (ERAU, 2014). 

This research project will identify all the applicable laws, policies, regulations and statues that touch Unmanned Air Systems. It will explain important the related laws, guidelines as well as regulation guiding the operation of this technology in the civilian sector. There is a need for a student to be conversant with these rules and regulations to apply correctly this technology in the civilian sector. Finally, various reputable sources will be used to gather information to aid in completion of this research work. 

Aviation safety 

The student will compare and discuss in written and spoken formats an understanding and application of basic concepts in aviation safety as they pertain to the aviation/aerospace industry” (ERAU, 2014). 

This research project will evaluate the effects of Unmanned Air Systems on the safety of aviation. Unmanned Air Systems are deemed to give a main security benefits in various sectors in this case the civilian sector. Also, cases studied will be applied to illustrate the efficiency of UAV in providing safety aviation. Finally, the primary concept no human pilots is the driving force for this research. 

Aviation management and operations 

The student will present and illustrate an understanding and application of management activities as they apply to aviation/aerospace operations” (ERAU, 2014). 

The project will evaluate the issues surrounding the management and organization of Unmanned Air Systems. The related risks and issues of securities will be addressed in this research project. The researcher will focus to find out the control measure used in the organization and the management of Unmanned Air Systems. Finally, the duties of the organization and the management are essential with regard to the application of Unmanned Air Systems in area of civilians. In essence, the researcher will highlight the roles and responsibilities of various individuals in the management and the organization of this technology.
