The majority of the people who have a high body fat percentage are susceptible to many health complications ranging from heart problems to diabetes. Body Mass Index (BMI) has been used as one of the methods to measure the percentage of body fat and has proven to be a convenient, reliable, and appropriate technique for this experiment. Considering that it is through this method that a reliable percentage of body fat was obtained.

According to the data collected, most of the students had an average percentage body fat standing at 45%.35% of the students were above average while 25% were ideal with respect to their body fat, noting that none of the students were lean.

While analyzing the data collected concerning the students' electronic BMI, the majority of the respondents (60%) had a normal electronic BMI, 30% being overweight while none of them was underweight. However, it was worth noting the relatively high number of students who were obese (10%); this percentage is for those students with an electronic BMI of above 30.

The blood pressure of the students was also collected, and compared against an average of 120/70mmHg.65% of these students had a below-average blood pressure while 25% had above blood pressure. However, only 10% of the students’ blood pressure was on average.

It would be appropriate to argue that BMI is an appropriate way to determine the percentage of body fat-which is important to control in order to maintain good health and avoid health complications like osteoarthritis.

From the sample of students tested, their blood pressure was directly proportional to their BMI. That is to say, that the majority of those who were obese and overweight had a blood pressure of above average. Since BMI is a measure of one's general body health, including their body fat percentage, the students in this category were likely to face other health complications too. This serves to prove that BMI is one of the most convenient ways to determines one’s general health status.
