Virginia City Beach is one of the oldest cities in American besides its rich history. It is, therefore, imperative to delve into the urban analysis of Virginia City Beach by reviewing its demography.

Population and Diversity

Virginia City is one of the cities that have been experiencing a tremendous increase in inhabitants over the years. This is a trend that has been attributed to its ability to support quality life. In 1960, the estimated population of Virginia City Beach was 8000 people. This was a small number as compared to the 2018 population data that showed an approximate of 450000 people occupied the city. The population figures from 1960 to 2018 shows a 550% increase in the city's population. Virginia Beach City is one of the cosmopolitan cities in the United States comprising of almost all ethnic groups. However, the Whites make up half of the total population, followed by African Americans. The Latinos and the Asian islanders are also among the occupants of the city. The Whites make up 65% of the current Virginia Beach City Population. According to the United States Census Bureau, the African American population in Virginia Beach in 2018 was 19.1%. This is an increase compared to the 10% that occupied the city in 1960.

Geographic Space

Virginia Beach City is located in the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) southeast part of the United States. The city has significant features ranging from physical, cultural, and historical. Physical features include but not limited to, bays, islands, and streams that make it a scenery beach. The city also has cultural features such as airports and harbors. Virginia Beach City is one of the independent cities in America, implying that it is not a territory of any county. After 1691, the Lower Norfolk County was split into two leading to Norfolk County and Princess Anne Shire. However, in 1963, Princess Anne County was consolidated with Virginia Beach with the approval of the residents to form an independent city. Based on the 1960 census results, the MSA had an approximate of 721000 people. However, there has been a significant increase in 2018 census results, which shows a total of 1707638 people occupy the region. The whites emerge as the top occupants of the county as the number continues to increase since 1960. According to the County and City Data Book, the African Americans numbers too have been growing since the 1960 census coming up as the second after the Whites. Generally, the population proportion has changed as an increase has been experienced in the composition. Virginia Beach City is about 1289km 2 in size. The population density of the city is spread at 1819 people per square mile. The population density expresses how dense the city is inhabited.

Analysis

The demography of Virginia Beach City reveals impressive insights about the entire city. Firstly, the city is among the most populated cities in the country. This is a factor that has been attributed to location and the booming industrial opportunities. The number of occupants in Virginia Beach City shows that the city is densely populated than the entire MSA region. The high number of Whites in Virginia Beach City is associated with the happenings before the 1960 census. In most instances, the activities did not support the occupations of African Americans and other ethnicities. African Americans make up 19% of the total population, followed by Asians making up 6%. The values from Virginia Beach City imply that the city is growing, especially by the increasing population. In terms of diversity, Virginia Beach City is accommodating more ethnic groups as compared to the 1960s.

Summarily, the demographic data from Virginia Beach City reveals the essential features of the city. This is because the data provide insights into the central city's aspects, such as the population and the area covered by the city. Besides, the demographic data also shows how specific ethnic groups have been faring in the city. The population density of the city also reveals how it can support a considerable population despite its small area.
