The technological innovations ranging from wearable, AI, radiotherapy treatments to advanced immunotherapy treatments and CAR-T are redefining the experiences of cancer patients rapidly. As technological advancements continue to accelerate, the opportunity for cancer patients to take responsibilities for their treatment, diagnosis, and oncology has also grown. The event seeks to identify ways in which the data privacy laws such as GDPR would affect therapy for patients (Blaser & Chen, 2018). The workshop also aims to find ways through which several stakeholders can collaboratively work to ensure that the engagement of patients can be used as a tool for driving progress in the oncology care. The program would determine whether or not the increased data access by patients strengthens relationships with the caregivers or if they create tensions for treatment.

The event takes the lead on patient collaboration as well as the engagement with the advanced technologies in the field of medicine. The event looks for ways through which patient engagement can strength drug discovery and regulations. European countries are expected to implement the newly set standards of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation in May 2018. This is the recent policy which is meant to bring cohesion to the data privacy in European countries and to reinforce data protection across industries. For those who deal with oncology, the policy would mean that all organizations which are handling data for any citizen of European Union citizen should be ready to comply with the new era of healthcare policy of safeguarding the patients' information.

Meanwhile, cancer patients inherit autonomy over how they want their personal information should be handled thus changing the relationship between the clinician and the patient. The current innovations in wearable and AI are credited for reinvigorating the patient engagement, but the long-term advantage of the emerging technologies is to be determined. Oncology leaders from all across Europe would be levering platforms for data to improve diagnosis for cancer patients as well as their treatment and general care (Blaser & Chen, 2018). The event would convene experts from across Europe to examine case studies on the innovation on the digital platform and the effect that they bring to the cancer treatment and care.

Lastly, the support groups, as well as clinicians, follow-ups are getting created through digital platforms. Mobile technologies and other digital platforms are enabled by the social media hence making it easier for engagement of patients with communities and other stakeholders. The younger generation would have a competitive advantage on the resources as compared to the older generations who did not grow in the digital age. The event would also have strategy session in which the latest technologies in radiology would be discussed and determined if at all they meet the patient's objectives. Furthermore, there would be a discussion that would determine the role of the patients in strengthening the efficiency of the initiatives which would come in future and to identify and control the most significant barriers to the innovation scales. The event also seeks to look into the breakthrough therapies as well as the future treatment technologies.
