The need-based motivational approach describes motivated behavior among employees as an individual effort to meet their needs. The job design motivates employees in all the retail store, be it the chef in the kitchen or the cashier in the counter, they all work together to provide better health to the final consumer. Yearly, Wegmans’ employees raise millions of dollars participating in their sponsored programs of food distributions and hunger reliefs to local food banks. All of these efforts lead to sustainability efforts in building the community through the company’s job design.
Wegmans uses training programs and orientation to strengthen the relationship between employees. This creates a family-like relationship among employees and as an exciting work environment builds a trusting relationship within themselves.
