The Christian world view is founded on the biblical scriptures, our experiences, and perspectives on how the Christian doctrines relate with our lives. James Sire’s The Universe Next Door provides a thorough analysis of how the Christian tenets interact with other world views such as naturalism, Eastern pantheistic monism, Islam theism, and postmodernism. This juxtaposition of how different people perceive the source, course, and destiny of life helps to understand some actions and behavior. The logic and reasoning of some world view significantly vary to the Christian world view. Understanding this has not only helped me to accommodate other people’s thoughts and arguments but also appreciate that no religious denomination is righteous or morally justified to judge others. Christianity is founded on the common principles of love, empathy, and forgiveness of others. While these principles may not be the cornerstone of other deities, I have learned that it is imperative for Christians to always apply these doctrines regardless of the other person’s perspectives.
Christians often have a self-diagnosed perception of the nature of God or how the world works. While we most often attribute this conjecture to scripture or a quote of a religious leader, it is important to dispel any misunderstanding. One way of developing the right perception and Christian world view is by asking critical questions about our self-diagnosed thoughts and perceptions. Through their critical analysis of the different religious and philosophical beliefs, the class readings provide an apt platform for an accurate understanding and application of the Christian deities. Through the readings, I have learned about the involvement of God in human existence and his expectations of us. God expects humankind to obey his commands. The greatest commands are the love for God and the love for our neighbors. Abiding by these commands implies demonstrating goodness and kindness to everyone at all without expecting an equal reciprocation. As a Christian, I strongly believe that good will be rewarded, and wrong deeds will be punished in the judgment day.
