Both integrity and academic integrity are desirable values in the various degree programs available for the students. The first step I will apply towards achieving and maintaining academic integrity is to read the syllabus carefully and understand it (Wang, 2019). To ensure that I have a complete understanding of the syllabus, I will seek clarifications from the lecturers and instructors such as those related to various assignments. Reliance on the students for the clarifications may lead to the acquisition of misleading information, which may result in academic dishonesty. The second step that I will apply to the achievement and maintenance of academic integrity while in the DSL program is to work with the assumption that I am supposed to work on the various assignments individually (Wang, 2019). I will do so unless the instructors explicitly state that particular work may be group work. Copying from other students in the independent assignments is treated as academic dishonesty and may attract penalties to the students. The other step I will apply to achieve and maintain academic integrity is to complete my assignments on time (Wang, 2019). The buildup of pressure from handling an assignment late tempts students to engage in copying other students' work and plagiarizing the internet sources, which may attract various forms of punishment. I will also avoid sharing my assignments with the other students in my class. If the other students ask me questions regarding the assignment, I will be free to help them with the much that I will have gained. However, by sharing my assignments with them, I will be exposing them to academic dishonesty as well. One of the most critical activities that I will do to help me avoid plagiarism is the proper citation of the sources that I have used for my assignment (Wang, 2019). Since the DSL program involves extensive research, I will have to attribute the information I obtain from the internet to the appropriate authors.

The doctoral-level comes with a myriad of expectations with one of the most crucial virtue being integrity. Academic integrity makes up the most substantial part while one is at the DSL program. Most of the students may cave in to the external pressure of the academics and may thus involve themselves in academic dishonesty. Most of the times if detected, the instructors will be quick to apply the necessary penalties to such students. Therefore, every scholar at the doctoral level has to apply the steps as mentioned earlier to achieve and maintain academic integrity. Learning at the doctoral level may also be more practical than the less advanced degrees. That is to say that the academic integrity at the doctoral level inspires the professional integrity in the later career life of an individual.

The first way to uphold the integrity standards in my chosen vocation will be a commitment to the work (Schlabach, 2017). When an individual is committed to a particular job, they can uphold the standards of integrity at the workplace. The second way of maintaining integrity in my chosen vocation is to lead by example. As a person who has cultivated integrity from the doctoral level and onwards to the career level of life, I will have learned the best ways of upholding integrity. Thus, I will help my colleagues to maintain their integrity at the workplace by being a good example that they can follow (Schlabach, 2017). I will also communicate with honesty and openness to adhere to the standards of integrity in my chosen vocation. Open lines of communication usually uphold ethical standards among the workers and between them and the management. Therefore, openness encourages integrity (Schlabach, 2017). The last step I will follow to adhere to the standards of integrity at my chosen vocation is to be consistent in the application of ethical standards. Consistency in the same will act as a reminder to the adherence to integrity standards at the workplace.
