The beginning chapters of Actstalk about the arrival of the Holy Spirit, how Jesus began to educate his apostles about the Holy Ghost and telling them that it is power and gift from God. Jesus said told his disciples that they would soon be baptized through the Holy Spirit and not with water as John the Baptist did. ("Bible Gateway passage: Acts 1-7 - New Revised Standard Version", n.d.). Chapter 1 outlines Jesus’ ascension. He ascended to heaven as his disciples were watching. The second chapter outlines the events of the day of Pentecost. It explains how divided tongue rested on the disciples and every one of them started speaking in other tongues because they received the Holy Spirit. ("Bible Gateway passage: Acts 1-7 - New Revised Standard Version", n.d.). The word of God in this chapter also urges people to repent and be baptized so that their sins can be forgiven. The scripture in this chapter is proof of Jesus' plan and God's will from the beginning. Jesus always intended for his disciples to take his message and spread the good news in every direction. Today this scripture continues to be applied as people of God still spread the Gospel of the Lord in churches, crusades, seminars, streets and in people’s houses.
Chapters 3 and 4talk about God’s healing. It outlines how Peter healed a crippled beggar in the temple. Peter commanded the crippled beggar to walk, and so the man was healed, stood up and began to walk. ("Bible Gateway passage: Acts 1-7 - New Revised Standard Version", n.d.). The man began to walk immediately and joined Peter and John into the temple, leaping, walking and praising God. Servants of God continue to preach the gospel of healing outlined in this scripture and those who believe and have faith were healed. The scripture in chapter 5 teaches about the act of giving using the story of Ananias and Sapphira. The bible uses their story to tell us that the punishment of sin is death. This chapter also talks of how God healed many people through the apostles as well as their persecution. It says that many people would come together around Jerusalem, carrying the sick and bringing people disturbed by the dark spirits, and all were cured. The apostles were arrested and placed in prison. While in prison, the Lord’s angel opened the prison doors and instructed them to go and teach people about the word of God. ("Bible Gateway passage: Acts 1-7 - New Revised Standard Version", n.d.). This scripture teaches people how God is able to use his people even when they are in impossible and difficult situations to preach the gospel.

The Gospel in chapter 6 talks of the seven men who were selected to serve the Lord. Therefore, seven men full of wisdom and the Spirit were appointed amongst friends. ("Bible Gateway passage: Acts 6 - New Revised Standard Version", n.d.). The number of the apostles increased and the gospel continued to spread in Jerusalem. Chapter 6 and 7 talks about the arrest of Stephen, his good deeds, his message to the council and his stoning. He was falsely accused before the council because of his teachings but was not shaken, as he strongly believed in the gospel of the Lord. Even today, servants of God continue to face rejection, abuse, persecution, and humiliation from people, but some of them are not bothered by such and stand firm with the word of God to death.
