Scenario 1

It is evident that the role of an athletic director is one that requires critical appraisal of funds raised for the benefit of the various teams in the school. The first scenario shows an instance where the athletic director is personally responsible for reviewing the budget as well as the fundraising deposits and withdrawals made to the account (Perlman, 2013). The most appropriate course of action is to call on the help of professional volunteer auditors, who is separate from the school’s principal and the former athletic director. The need is to ascertain that there is a discrepancy from professional help. It is after this that the issue will be made public. Based on the news cast by Holfeld (2015), thefts made from school fundraisers in schools go on without speaking about with the fear of embarrassing the institution. One should call for investigations against the former athletic director and advocate for changes to be made in the fundraising techniques and strategies.

Scenario 2

In the second scenario, it is evident that football is the most popular sport in the local high school. However, there is critical need to demonstrate equality in the distribution of funds received from fundraising campaigns. During the next fundraising event, all participating donors will be clearly informed that the funds provided will be used equally across the available sports programs. The technique will involve identifying the sports that are loved not only by the students and the parents, but also the local community at large (Goldberg & Kim, 2017). This technique will serve as an effective means of preventing bias in the distribution of funds. It also enables the campaign to attract donors of associated with other sports who would like to contribute to the improvement of the athletic department. As seen in Chandler’s (2013) interview of Michael Weinstein, funds should not be just allocated according to quantitative data, but should consider qualitative information. The specific needs of each team should be addressed to ensure equal distribution.
