As a result of this course, my understanding of the American dream has changed, so I only believe that it is just a dream that people have to pay the price to have come to reality. I believe that The American dream does not come by chance, but people need to work hard to achieve what they dream of. The example I use to interpret my understanding of the American dream is becoming prosperous than one's parents or ancestors by being financially free, graduate from the university without debts, and getting the job of your dreams.
In the video " Imagine ," as it names says, the American dream is just an imagination (Johnlennon, 2016). The video brings a clear picture of how the American dream is almost impossible to achieve. The video gives hope of how things can be one day, and this is the same as the American dream, where it is a dream with hopes that we can all achieve it (Lennon, 2016). However, I believe that the American dream is just a dream, and there is no hope for it ever to become a reality. At one point, the American dream meant owning a house and having a dream job and driving that big car or even going for a vacation now and then. As days go by, those things are becoming hard to achieve, and now it's all about surviving and taking a day at a time with no hopes of achieving big things. People are living with worries about where to get the next meal or even money to pay rent. There is no hope for the American dream.

The image from the video that signifies my new understanding of the American dream is when a couple walks towards the house, holding each other cold. When reaching the door, they find it closed, but somehow, they managed to get in. This is the same as the American dream; it has become hard for it to become a reality.
