In my opinion, students should study political science because the course equips them with essential skills to handle national and international affairs in their future professional environments. The study of political science entails detailed analysis of critical factors, such as foreign affairs, global affairs and issues, politics in native countries and across the world, and public policies (Fortin Lewis College, n.d.). Additionally, students should study political science because it enables them to conceptualize essential aspects, such as civil rights, foreign development, terrorism, the environment, and methods used to allocate resources in society. Therefore, students should study political science because it prepares them to interact positively with public affairs issues in the future.

Political science is also a vital course that students should study because it helps students understand the functionalities and dynamics of public policies and governments using scientific approaches and humanistic skills. Further, political science aid sharpens a learner’s communication, writing, and data analytical skills essential for future professional contexts ( Luther College, n.d.) . Moreover, students who undertake political science as their major in higher education can think independently and critically because they are exposed to and appreciate broadened perspectives of current affairs in their countries and the world. Finally, studying political science is an excellent means to prepare for law or graduate school.
