Jail Sail
Some time back, a friend to my cousin got arrested, and it was at this time that I got the chance of visiting him in jail. I took the opportunity to discuss religion with him some of his inmates and to spread the Gospel to him and his inmates, preaching on the importance of salvation in one’s life. Initially, the prisoners questioned why they should receive Jesus, yet they are behind bars. I told them that God does not discriminate and that we are all equal in His eyes. Some of the prisoners had lost faith because of their situations, and they did not believe that they could ever be the same. However, the purpose of the sermons was to let them know that God had not given up on them and that they should always believe in Him. The verse that I shared and emphasized was John 3:16, and this made them feel like they had hope in life. I also shared my story of how I accepted Christ as my savior and then how challenging my path as a Christian was and is.
One message given to the prisoners was that God had a plan for them and that He knew them even before they were born. Some of the questioned why God would let them suffer as they did. In the end, we prayed together and gave them Bibles to guide them in their spiritual journeys. I made the prisoners feel wanted and not pressured into being Christians. We let the Holy Spirit work within their lives and show that His path is the right one for them. We will continue praying for those in prison for the Holy Spirit to keep guiding and showing that they need salvation. Besides, I promised to be visiting them in prison once in a while to check up on them and their progress in faith. I intend to keep this promise to show them what the power of being saved and believing in Christ does.

Restaurant Called Home Plate
Being a Christian, I do believe that people follow one because of their actions rather than their words. Thus, I and some of the members of our church have taken the initiative of preaching to people at a restaurant called Home Plate. Through Home Plate, we also offer food to the needy people as a way of demonstrating to them that the church is charitable. During these sessions, we preached to people about the importance of receiving Jesus as one’s personal savior and how we get transformations through faith. One question that we asked non-believers was about their personal relationship with God. Most of them explained their beliefs but were unsure, and it as here that we got a chance to preach to them about Christ and how we are all called to His altar. We told people that they could be sure about their faith by proclaiming Christ and asking Him to forgive them of their sins. Most confessed God’s name, but we had to let them know that this had to come from their hearts and not just their mouths.
We told those we preached to that we did not in any way try to expedite the process, but we will have them find the will to find God. At the restaurant, Home Plate, we demonstrated the need to have a fellowship with Christ and have eternal life. The oneness that we had as we preached was sufficient to show to the people that God calls many to His table. We told people that they could strengthen their faith in God by confessing His name as their savior according to Romans 10:9. We then prayed with the people after the sessions. In the end, we managed to convert people to Christ, and some even offered to continue with the mission of preaching to the unsaved and helping the needy.
Phone Call Revival
Just this past week, I had the privilege to work in a charity event that we organized with friends. During this period, we worked with a hospital nearby to assist the elderly and those who were feeling ill. One thing for sure that we noticed was that some of them were battling with accepting that they could get well. We exchanged phone numbers with some patients who I would call to check up on them, and it was during the calls that I told them that God is the healer. They got more interested in discussing the topic of spirituality and miraculous healing. I took the opportunity to preach to them about the Gospel and the power of having faith and hope in God’s plans. I believe that most of those who heard and listened to God’s word were touched as they started donating for the cause of our work.
One message that I told all the four individuals was “God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life.” They asked how they could know that this was true and how to know what these plans were. Out of the four people, two of them had a familiarity with God and professed to believe in Him. The other two did not have a firm stand when it came to religion. We took the opportunity to preach to them the importance of salvation, how I have managed to become a better person since I received Christ as my personal savior. During the phone calls, we made lots of prayer for the converts to feel and receive Christ in their lives. I told them that I wanted them to become Christians just as I am so that they can have eternal life with me. I also said to them that I did not want to go on in life without having the great feeling that they were in fellowship with God. In the end, we formed a spiritual group where we would be meeting at least twice a week to discuss matters of religion and growth.
